Great hotel, but lacks in room service quality!

Posted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness, pool, fitness facility.
Cons: Room service food should be made to order, since it is provided from a Milestone's restaurant.
It was an easy check in and we loved the view of the Falls from our room. However, when we ordered room service, the food was not made to order ( steak- wanted medium and received well done that couldn't be eaten). We did not complain, just thru it out and ate the rest of the salad. Overall, the hotel is a great option if you don't mind walking a fair bit to get to the Falls. The Starbucks located in the lobby was a major disappointment, watered down coffee. Definitely not representative of the Starbucks name and quality.

Not at all Marriott standards

Posted Jul 25, 2014
Pros: All the staff was very nice and tried there best, but overworked especialy the room maintenance staff
Cons: The overall quality of the bathrooms, cleanning of yhe rooms, and elevators
Location: It is very well situated facing the falls, but there are a lot of hotels with the same standars as the Marriott close by.
Hotel room was nor clean, carpet was stained, washroom with no ventilation, not able to use the shower as it was to hot and damp. The maid came to make up the room at 4:30 in the afternoon, because she had to many floors to take care of. I have never encountered elevators like this in my many travels, 20 to 25 minutes wait to get an elevator down from the 6th floor to the loby. Everyone was complaning but staff confirmed everything was working normaly, totaly onacceptable for a Marriott. If they don't want to maintain this hotel with the Marriott standards they should not be keeping it. I will avoid Marriotts from now on as I can not be sure of the quality I am paying for. They have lost a client.

Went to visit the Falls. Had a nice stay, although life is rather expensive in this area. The food and activities were very good, but were costly compared to the USA. We were glad we stayed three days. A longer stay would have been more expensive than we planned. We drove a longgggg way for this trip (700 miles). The tour lines were long, but it was really delightful to hear and see the visiting tourists from so many different countries! We heard every language under the sun. It was really great!

Great view of Niagara Falls!!!

Posted Jul 24, 2014
Pros: The size of the room and the view of the falls.
Cons: Elevators were not working well.had to wait a long time so finally took the stairs. More chairs near the window to sit and enjoy the fantastic view.
Location: Visited the falls and went out for a great dinner.
The room was fantastic!! Great view. Very large with king bed and jacuzzi bathtub.

Tremendous View -- but you pay for it 3x !

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: The View and convenience to public transportation. The morning breakfast buffet was an exceptional value when compared to other prices
Cons: Housekeeping attention to detail and knowing how many people are in the room---
Location: Research the attractions on Google and You Tube. Best time was on "Maid of the Mist" Boats, Cave of the Winds and Butterfly Conservatory.
OK -- I'm a critic -- sue me !!! lol We stayed at the Marriott Gateway from 7/17 - 7/22--- Suggest you stay (wherever you decide) during as many WEEKDAYS as needed (3 to 4 covers everything) because weekend lines for attractions and dinner reservations are crazy long. Room had fabulous view of the Falls (Horseshoe Falls) and Rapids but after looking at the angle of View for 4 days I think the Embassy Suites next door may have been better but a little further set back. Room pricing wasn't too bad considering the higher prices of everything else but we booked in January during the Polar Vortex ! Checked room pricing one week before departure and prices had more than doubled for the same room. Housekeeping repeatedly did not replenish Tea and Coffee but brought it up quickly when we called the Front Desk. I don't think the bed sheets were changed out once in our 4 nights there, well maybe once.... Even though there were two us booked for four nights -- we only received [1] Bar of Soap daily and had to call for more. Pool area was always very noisy with children at all times of day and night so we never enjoyed that at all. WEGO buses stopped directly in front of Hotel which was convenient -- there is really no need for drive a car around this area as local transportation is cheap and abundant. Food prices in ALL restaurants is outrageously expensive -- more than three times what one would expect. Plan on spending $80-$120 /day for eating out (for two)
