Great Stay - A Definite Recommendation!

Posted Nov 18, 2014 on Hotels.com
I had a great experience here. The hotel is kept very clean, and the room was amazing. They supply you with incredibly comfortable robes, and the rooms are so cozy. The breakfast in the morning was very good for a hotel breakfast. There were a lot of choices, the food was warm, and it was open for a good amount of time. The staff was always very kind and helpful. The complimentary valet parking made the stay extra easy. I also walked to Niagara Falls on the Canadian side, and the walk is not bad at all, and it made it extremely easy to cross the border without having to worry about a car. The hotel also has a 19th floor viewing room for all guests that is a must do! I would recommend staying here to anyone!

Rude, rude, Rude

Posted Oct 3, 2014 on Hotels.com
The rudest people run this hotel. I stay in hotels over 100 nights a year and have seen the range of good and bad. This one takes the prize. I stayed in the hotel less than 13 hours and left with the most bitter taste in my mouth. Please trust me and choose one of the very nearby hotels at less than half the price. You will thank me. Also, They say they are the closest hotel to the falls. This is absolutely not true.

Character property well located

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Arrived at 1pm but room was not available - rather inexperienced staff member tried to be helpful! Property is located very close to Falls and access to Goat Island - all easily walkable. Room eventually provided about 3pm - tasteful, fully renovated and excellent character although rather small. Lounge and breakfast room are also excellent. However, restaurant is not open for dinner which is a disappointment given the price of the property and the excellent facilities. Overall a very good stay - staff were helpful and this is a far better option than the ubiquitous chain properties in the area. Very nicely renovated/converted property in good location - would return.

Just a 5 minute walk to the falls.

Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Great friendly staff. Beautiful, wll maintained old building with period art deco decor. Convenient vallet parking.
Location: The falls are just a 5 minute walk away.
Nice old historic building in a great location. The rooms are large and the bathrooms are big too. The rooms are decorated with elegant period art deco wallpaper and have very high ceilings and nice furnishings. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was good too, much better than your typical hotel breakfast. This place is expensive, but for special occasions or an occasional splurge it is well worth the price.

Very good hotel, however, over priced.

It's an old, recently renovated hotel. Spacious, clean rooms. They offer free breakfast (basic, nthn fancy). Location is excellent. No hotel facilities. All in all, it's an option although it's really overpriced.

A gem!

Posted Aug 30, 2014
Pros: The hotel is within walking distance of the park
Cons: I like the clean, spare look, but wanted a soap dish in the shower
Location: The park has almost everything you could want to do within walking distance. You may also walk across the bridge to Canada
I had heard that the USA side was nothing much. Well, the Giacomo sure is! It is tucked into an old office building which has been turned into residences, mostly. We got there too early to check in, and our bags were taken and stored. We were given a map on how to get to area attractions, right within walking distance. Then we were helpfully directed to the breakfast room and told to help ourselves. We had juice, coffee, eggs, bacon and bagels. We took a second cup of coffee up to the observation lounge and got our bearings with the wonderful view. Then we headed to the park and spent all day seeing the breathtaking views. Use the very reasonably priced trolley to get around. Don't miss Cave of the Winds, Luna Island, Terrapin Point, Three Sisters Islands, and the Observation Tower. Our nice breakfast enabled us to do all of these without getting hungry. We came back to the hotel to check in and have a wine. The room was charming and there were chocolates beside the bed. Don't miss the cookies they put out, also.

Local gem

The Giacomo is a nice little hotel with full time residents. The rooms we spacious and comfortable and the hotel staff very nice and helpful. It is located one block from the entrances to the NY Niagra park. The valet parking was great about quickly grabbing your car, a must since good restaurants are not within walking distance.
