“Pleasant stay”
This is a simple, but comfortable hotel. The location is very good, walking distance to the train stration. The service is awesome. They have a very good breakfast. The room is quite simple and small, but enough for my needs.
“Expected something better”
Although the neighborhood and overall location of the hotel were very good, the hotel itself was quite shabby, especially the hallways. The carpeting was frayed and the hallways themselves smelled stale and unpleasant (we stayed in 2 different rooms as we broke up our stay in Nice so were able to experience different locations). It may be my mistake in not reading the hotel details carefully enough before bookin, but I was not happily surprised to find no internet service available or any mini-fridge in the rooms. The latter was important to me since I travel with medicine that needs to be refrigerated and it was a bother to ask the staff to put my meds in and take them out when I needed to. I would also have appreciated better lighting, especially next to the beds as I needed a lantern to see the pages of my book when trying to read in bed. No complaints at all about the staff who were extremely nice and helpful and who made good suggestions. The buffet breakfast was quite nice and lacked for nothing. Note to the Hotel Boreal: if you'd spend some money renovating and modernizing the premises, I'd be able to give you a five star rating.
“Great location, but few thrills...”
For the price, I would recommend Hotel Boreal. The location was great - 5 minute walk to the old town, train depot, and the beach. The staff was especially helpful advising us how to catch the bus (to the museums) and trains (to Monaco). The room was quite small - though to be expected in EU, but clean. Biggest disappointment was no elevator to our room on the 3rd floor! A nice workout with our luggage up the winding staircase!! Overall it was OK, though next time we might spend more to stay somewhere a little more extravagant.
“Adequate”
The location cannot be beaten & the beds in the 10x12 room were comfortable and clean however the A/C was broken 5 of 8 97 degree days. I suggested perhaps throw in a free breakfast or two for the inconvenience but they did not agree. Also I had to get beach towels from the front desk with which to clean the bathtub which was never cleaned by the maid.
“Pretty Good Place”
Location: Very short tram ride away from main train station. 10-15 min walk to main square and beach. Staff: English speaking and helpful Room: Clean, safe and plenty of space. Other: Good breakfast buffet at an okay price if you need to get something quick and convenient. Con: It's not the hotels fault but there was noisy construction less than a block away that woke me up every morning (I'm a light sleeper). My friend was not disturbed by it.
“Great hotel in Nice!”
Refreshingly clean! Excellent service and a perfect quite location; couldnt ask for anything more this holiday!
“Neighborhood feel”
Hotel Boreal was close to some quaint restaurants and near a large shopping street. Our room was small but adequate and the staff was friendly and helpful.
“location,location”
The hotel was all about location, location. It was near old town and was very easy to catch buses everywhere. One euro on all buses to anywhere. The hotel itself was good. No shower curtain but plenty of hot water. No shampoo but a drugstore next door. A/C worked great. Beds were very comfortable. Price also was very good. I would indeed stay there again.
“A VERY BAD experience”
I decided to book at this hotel based upon previous travelers reviews. Unfortunately, they weren't accurate at all!! The hotel is run down, and the carpets in the hallway are filthy. The rooms are spartan at best, and the mattresses are old and lumpy. The linens were white, in some other decade. I know, I know, 3 stars right?! Well, all of that aside... the walls are thinner than paper. I heard my neighbors entire conversation, and then it turned into a "pornographic" movie. Really horrible, especially sice I was with my teenage niece! After 3 trips to the desk, they offered to possibly move my room( it was now about 1am) I declined at that point because the "movie" was over, and had already made plans to go to another hotel early in the morning. Unfortunately, I did not sleep at all that night. There was constant street noise, and trash pickup at about 5am. The best part of my experience was leaving the hotel, getting a refund for the days I didn't stay, and having the ability to move to a real hotel on the beach. Sorry Hotel Boreal, but thankfully, I will never come back! PS. The lady at the desk was very nice, but that didn't make up for an awful hotel
“close to everything! tram and bus less thank a block away!”
this hotel is a true travel gem. close to the tram, easy bus ride from the airport. the hotel staff, steve at the front desk, was fantastic. very helpful. he know all the best places to go and how to get there! quite street, yet safe and close to everything. only a few steps from the tram. breakfast at the hotel was good for the price, 9euro. the rooms are very small, but have a tub and shower! a travel bargin and true value for the money! go to monte carlo while you are in nice! take bus 100~ go to the garden up by the palace. vilage of eze! steve at the front desk can tell you which bus to take, very nice, cheap! little grocery store in eze has wonderful wine and everything you need for a little picnic!
