“Very good hotel”

For 3 stars hotel It is very very good hotel. I like the bathroom compare the same lever hotel in Paris I was staying earlier.

“Very nice hotel”

In my very brief stay, I found the Excelsior very charming. The room was rather small, though not by European standards. It was clean, and the staff was exceptionally helpful in assisting me on my way back to the airport on my return trip.

“Adequate”

The hotel was conveniently located near the train station and shopping, and not far from the beach. Clean room, good breakfast, excellent staff (who all spoke some English). Only two small complaints. First, the "triple" room had three tiny beds that were very old and not very comfortable. Second, there was no desk to work on. But overall it was very good.

“Very close”

Very close proximity to the train station (Nice-Ville). You can see it literally from the station. Within walking distance of the beach and the Russian Church (but make sure and check the hours of the church if you want to visit). Front desk was always busy checking people in, and a couple staff members had a bit of an attitude (not offensive, but attitude nonetheless). Free computer and internet access, which was convenient, but you had to wait for other hotel customers.

“Fantastic Service!”

It is by no means a Four Seasons resort hotel. But for the price, the location to the train station, and most importantly the service, it can't be beat. The bathrooms are also surprisingly nice.

“OK hotel but a bit pricey for what you get”

The hotel was undergoing rennovation when we went so there was a very strong smell of paint in the room. We had to open the doors to let fresh air in and it did help. My biggest problem was the shower did not drain so every morning we would have an overflowing shower into the rest of the bathroom and once even into the bedroom!! We stayed for four nights and somehow managed, but now looking back i should have complained and asked for another room. There was noise from construction every morning but otherwise it was very quite in this hotel. Everything else was fine, the room included breakfast and we could order scrambled eggs which is what I ate every morning since the rest of it was nothing to write home about. Pluses were a very competent lady at the front desk who helped us with a good restaurant in the area and also gave us pointers on where to catch buses to the museums etc. and booked a tour for us which helped us greatly! Also, it was walking distance from the Nice Ville station which was helpful, though in the night you're kind of stuck going to dinner in that area when most of the good restaurants are in the old town! All in all, good stay except for the clogged shower & remodeling work -- but for what we paid for the room per night, I felt the experience could have been much better.

“not bad for a short stay”

It's so close to the Gare Nice train station tht it's easily accessible from the airport with the special 99 bus direct, no stops and costs a pittance. BUT.....for the price, I would have expected no chips in the paint/doors or stains on the bedspread . Breakfastis basic and adequate; about 20 minutes walk from the old town.

“Lovely hotel, but would not recommend the location”

Hotel Excelsior was perfectly lovely - the room was airy and modern and comfortable, and the staff could not have been more helpful, calling me a cab, recommending the only open pharmacy on a Sunday, advising re: bus routes. However, I would not recommend staying in this location. Its proximity to the main train station was very convenient, but the surroundings felt a bit cagey at night, and I was hesitent to go out late at night for fear of walking back alone after dark.

“Noisy and tiny street room in a not so recomendable area”

If you go there ask for a room facing the back NOT the street. The romm was extremely tiny. The hotel is run down. The ony highlight is a nice and cosy backyard.
