BEAUTIFUL ATMOSPHEREPosted Jun 1, 2015
Pros: The location and atmosphere. It was extremely relaxing and romantic!
This hotel was way more than we expected. The pictures look great, but it is even better in person. The ambience of staying in the rainforest right on the beach is unbelievable!!! The staff were very friendly and wonderful to deal with. The rooms were immaculate and had wonderful views.

Nice hotel, very close to the beach!Posted May 15, 2015
Pros: Location was great! Nice quiet beach, with a fabulous sunset!
Cons: Accomodations were average (furniture). However, very clean with great daily cleaning staff.
Location: Water sports and dining was excellent!
Stayed four days with spouse and two other friends and had a great relaxing time. The hotel is located in a great spot, near other restaurants right down the beach (no need to even walk into town). There is a little family run restaurant right next door that I recommend you try, great people! Also, the Aquasport Bar and Restaurant and the La Casita Del Marisco were excellent for lunch and dinner!

DisappointingPosted Apr 20, 2015 on Hotels
Unfortunately this resort does not measure up to the professional photos and glamorous description contained in its marketing material. The resort is "tired," a bit run down, and not a good value. The rooms are cramped and in our particular unit (#103) we did not have hot water for more than 5 minutes during our 3-day stay (we also had an intermittently squeaky AC unit which didn't help with our sleep). To their credit, they appeared to "work" on the hot water issue daily, but in the end, it wasn't fixed. We were given a complimentary breakfast the last day as compensation(a $36 value), which is something, I guess, but not very much. The staff is friendly and I really get the impression that the condition and circumstances we encountered is an ownership issue and not a staff/management issue. The staff seemed sympathetic and almost apologetic, leaving me with the sense that the types of problems we encountered are routine. The resort is in a great location, right on the beach. It is quiet and secluded, but not close to much. If you leave the resort, its a healthy walk (15 to 30 minutes) to the nearest restaurants and store, so plan on a taxi if you don't want to walk. This resort is expensive relatively speaking, and simply wasn't a very good value. Overall disappointing.

Wish I could LIVE here!Posted Apr 13, 2015 on Hotels
This was the most expensive place we stayed in Costa Rica but it was so worth it! Absolutely beautiful! Incredible service! Great pool! Beautiful clean and uncrowded beach! My husband swam to the reef from the hotel beach and saw beautiful puffer fish a small sting ray and lots of sea life. No extra charge to borrow a boogie board from the reception desk. During happy hour we spotted a large iguana sleeping in a tree. We could hear monkeys from our patio. In the evening we walked along the beach to some of the other local bars and restaurants to try some awesome local cuisine and local drinks ("chili guaro").

Quiet hotel on a quiet beachPosted Apr 7, 2015 on Hotels
Not for the young looking for nightlife. Quiet new hotel on a beautiful small beach in a small town. Perfect for few days in the hot sun during an awful Boston winter (set the record for snow. Excellent swimming, no surf here. All the tourist amenities provided either through the hotel or from senor operator (I say that with a smile) next door. Excellent dinner two hotels down the beach.

Great spot right on the beachPosted Feb 16, 2015 on Hotels
Gorgeous little hotel, right on the beach! Spacious rooms and fabulous service. Only 6 rooms actually have an ocean view. The others all face the gardens/pool area which is beautiful. Good prices at the restaurant. Cons - Wifi worked in common area only. Not a big deal unless you have work to catch up on.

Would go againPosted Jan 18, 2015 on Hotels
Playa Hermosa is one of the nicest in the area: no rocks, plenty of space, clean water. The hotel and pool were small but really enchanting!! Rooms had good size and the food was great. My 8-year old daughter loved it.

New Year's in Costa RicaPosted Jan 5, 2015 on Hotels
Came down for New Year's with my girlfriend. The staff is very nice and accommodating. They helped book our diving with a local company and set it up to be charged to the room which was very convenient. If you can afford it or have the opportunity to get a suite upgrade for a beach facing room on the second floor do it. They have jacuzzi spas on the balconies that open up to the bathroom. It was awesome to soak at night after a day of fun and listen to the waves crashing and the wind through the trees. The food in their restaurant was also excellent. We stayed two nights in Arsenal prior to Playa Hermosa and the food here was less expensive but just a good. We were going to stay a night at Playas Del Coco but some friends recommended staying in Playa Hermosa. This was the way to go. Visiting Playas Del Coco was fun for the day to eat and drink (highly recommend Coconutz) but was a bit dirtier for our taste. Also, the week between Christmas through New Year's is a Holiday for Costa Ricans so there were a lot of locals on the beaches so they were more crowded than normal.
