Better than budget chain hotelsPosted Feb 7, 2015
Pros: Location, quite stylish décor (for a mock-Tudor building) and food offerings.
Cons: Bathroom a tad small and two of three under-basin cupboards were not finished inside -eg. bare plaster, plumbing visible
Location: visiting university so no time or opportunity to do anything else.
Booked last minute as need to visit Norwich expanded to 2 days. Price via Expedia was similar to Premier Inn offerings but included excellent breakfast. Hotel set in large park with adjacent golfclub - appeared to be in the middle of the country but was actually only 10 minutes from west Norwich. Staff were polite and very helpful. Was able to book an evening meal despite arriving quite late, which was very good. Room was good for a standard class - beds v comfortable and plenty of storage had we needed it. Overall clean, tidy and warm on a very cold night of arrival.

Nice Hotel but rooms very Tired and in need of updPosted Jan 22, 2015
Pros: The Restaraunt
Cons: Rooms need updating
Location: We were there for an event at the hotel on the Saturday
We arrived last friday 16th jan 2015 for 1 nights stay. Booking through expedia we got a good deal and cheaper than booking direct . The room we were given when we entered the bathroom had a big brown stain on the ceiling tiles (Yes suspended ceiling tiles very 1980's). a lot of the bathroom tiles were cracked and it was just not very clean. we complained to reception and they upgraded us to a suite. This room was bigger but the bathroom still had cracked tiles, the toilet took 3 or 4 attempts to flush and what felt like a week to refill. The bath took nearly 30 minutes to run to a depth that would get you wet. There was fridge in the room but not built into the furniture just a normal white domestic table top fridge sat in the corner of the room. This had not been cleaned in some time as had black marks inside. We went to the restarant for dinner and that was great. Great service and lovely food. Breakfast was nice but they constantly were running out of items like eggs so people stood around a lot. The settings for hotel are lovely and the grounds look well kept. Just the rooms a little tired, need updating and cleaning a bit better.

Busy weekendPosted Jan 21, 2015
Pros: The atmosphere of the old building
Cons: Updating of bathrooms as a mimimum
Location: We went shopping in Norwich City and it was ideally placed for that purpose Hotel was easy to find off of the main A140
Lovely old building with a great deal of atmosphere. We stayed for one night only on a Saturday when there were two large parties within the hotel. We ate in the Brassiere where the food was of a good standard and the staff were very pleasant. Sunday morning breakfast was also of a very good standard. Also the lounge bar is far too small during the winter months it being almost impossible to find somewhere to sit. We must however agree with quite a lot of comments that have been made on trip advisor that the rooms especially bathrooms require some serious updating and decoration. However, our stay was generally very pleasant. .

amazing frontage to this hotel...a special venuePosted Dec 1, 2014
Pros: Staff were very helpful and the driveway to the hotel and frontage extremely grand...breakfast was very substantial and tasty.
Cons: a few minor touch ups to pool area and bathroom as mentioned above
Location: Great location for major roads ie motorways and easy access into Norwich town centre which has amazing shopping centre and xmas market stalls
stayed over for one night, check in fairly smooth and given room 635...bit of a trek to find the room...down one flight of stairs then up another three flights...lifts were confusing to reach this section of the hotel....room was tidy but bed could have been dressed more luxuriously with a valance to cover up the "sealy" brand logo on the divan!!! Lovely view from this room though and very quiet as at the end of a corridor. The bathroom was somewhat dated and slightly shabby finishes on the fitting/woodwork etc. However I would recommend a stay at this hotel as the breakfast served was substantial and the two waitresses who looked after us were a credit to the hotel, very helpful and lovely manner. The pool/steam room/sauna was lovely but crowded and the floor between ladies changing room and steps upto pool area quite shabby, all that's required is fresh tiling on this small bit of floor area as it felt "gritty" and "mucky" underfoot...so my advice would be to wear flip flops to the pool. Apart from these small problems the hotel and its grounds is truly stunning especially the main part of the hotel with original wooden staircase. It would be an amazing venue for a wedding!!

Lovely hotel close to Norwich shopping centrePosted Nov 26, 2014
Pros: We enjoy the country setting and love the boards with the bird life.
Cons: I just think Dunston Hall has become very expensive for a short break.
We go to Dunston hall about twice a year. This time we found the restaurant prices had gone up a lot, also the wine , when you pay these prices you expect to have a cloth napkin not a cheap paper napkin, also £15.00 for a cavery is a bit over the top.
