Overall disappointing stay

Posted Oct 30, 2014
Pros: General condition of the hotel is poor and dated.
Cons: Hotel condition needs updating and staff need some form of customer service training.
Location: Bewilderwood adventure park. Norwich town centre
Booked through Expedia who had not been made aware there were no pool facilities working. I queried this with reception staff who instantly made it expedia's problem and told me I would need to contact them in my room. My children were upset as I had promised to take them swimming and as it was half term I cannot believe a family staying at the hotel would not have been informed prior to booking. The lifts were broken so we had to carry two young children and all our luggage up three floors. The staff are at best 'civil' however it is clear they do not have any desire to make sure your stay is a pleasant one this includes the duty manager who stated maybe we would be best off staying somewhere else at 7pm with two young children in tow. The hotel is shabby/dated and currently undergoing refurbishment however this is not explained to future guests and as such you are expected to pay full price for less facilities and stay in what is effectively a building site in your corridor. I was incredibly disappointed as I regularly stay at holiday inns with my family and this is the first time I wished I hadn't. It ruined our half term break but at least the holiday inn were not out of pocket by having to give me a refund, that's the main thing.

Great staff, disappointing stay

Posted Sep 12, 2014 on Hotels.com
As we were going to Norwich for a wedding we decided to find a hotel with a pool to make it a little holiday for our children who love swimming. We booked the hotel in May requesting a ground floor room close to the pool facilities. Unfortunately upon arrival we were told that the pool was or of order due to refurbishment and had been since May! There was nothing on hotels.com regarding this when we booked and no-one contacted us at any point to advise of this. We were directed to a room in the top floor bit the lift was out of orderso had to walk up the lady flight of stairs with our luggage, a sleeping toddler and a 5 month old baby. The staff were very apologetic and friendly but could not offer any practical solutions. We were told that the duty manager should be able to change our room to a ground floor suite the following day, however the next morning we were told that all of the suites were booked and that we would have to stay on the top floor. The staff were all friendly and helpful, especially the restaurant staff, and the breakfast was lovely however we would never have chosen to stay in the hotel had we been told that the pool would be unavailable, at the price we paid we could have stayed at a nicer hotel without a pool or found a hotel with a pool in the area.

Adequate but tired.

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: Convenient for event at hotel.
Cons: Poor lighting, hair dryer, bathroom
Stayed here for an event at the hotel and had a convenient ground floor bedroom. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is undergoing renovations at the moment which are needed. Bathroom remained steamed up for ages after a shower and had engrained dirt particularly around the tap; lighting in the bedroom was very dim and hair dryer was one of those you have to keep the button pressed to keep it on and it had a short cord. Breakfast was ok - self-service. It served my purpose to stay here but otherwise I would have been disappointed.

Refurbishment Required!!

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Location: Excellent for airport, close to city centre, and easy access to surrounding areas eg. Holt, Cromer and the broads
This hotel should be shut whilst a complete refurbishment is undertaken.

Decent enough hotel

Posted Aug 7, 2014 on Hotels.com
Kettle didn't turn off and i left the trousers press on for 15mins when we went out, came back 12 hours later and it was still on due to faulty timer, the room wasn't made up either, bed unmade no clean cups/towels tea/coffee etc pretty bad all in all.Having said that we booked 2 rooms and the other one was fine,so i guess it's pot luck, expensive for a Holiday Inn as well but i guess that's because it's at the airport, don't think i'd stay again. All the staff were great though

Weekend break

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Great price as got it for a mystery hotel
Cons: Cleanliness, and decor needs doing
Location: Location is great for Norwich airport, and great for Norwich park and ride
Hotel staff at check in were very nice and helpfull, the hotel is in need of a refurbishment as looking very tired, the pool was closed when we arrived and we were not informed when booking so was dissapointed, the cleanliness of the room was not great, the double room was quite small. The location is great for the airport, and for park and ride which we used for Norwich.

Good last minute deal

Posted Jun 23, 2014
Pros: Location suited our needs. Nice friendly staff. The bed.
Cons: It could do with updating in communal places and the changing rooms for the pool.
Location: It us v near the airport. Other airport hotels. Some basic restaurants, park and ride. Tesco metro.
We booked this hotel as a last minute deal with expedia. We wanted a family room in Norwich with minimal other requirements as we literally needed a bed for the night. This was just the ticket! Bits of the hotel are outdated but I think a refurb is on the cards. Staff friendly, efficient and helpful. The room was v clean, quite basic but comfortable, especially the bed. Our evening meal was nothing special and pricey for what it was, but the staff were good with our kids and made us welcome. Breakfast was a bit too pricey for us and we didn't want the full works so went elsewhere. We all enjoyed a swim in the pool. This hotel is good for people using the airport and as a deal for families wanting to visit Norwich.

Pleasant Stay.

Posted Jun 9, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, good size family room with comfortable beds.
Cons: Signage to the top floor rooms and the décor.
Location: Beautiful Norfolk has lots to see and do, Norwich is a lovely city with many interesting parts, cathedral, castle, gardens etc
The check in and out went smoothly. Staff friendly and efficient. Our room was on the top floor which was confusing as we were told to go to the second floor and then there were no signs for rooms in the 500s! We found some stairs and investigated and then found our family room. The room was spacious and clean, the décor was a bit tired but the hotel is being refurbished. The beds were very comfy, the TV was easy to use with good picture quality and the ensuite was great with all the complimentary items you could want! I would love to know the size of the bed it was ENORMOUS! I want one!!!! Unfortunately the pool was closed for refurbishment during our stay but this was made clear. Would definitely stay again.

The worst choice you can make. Very old hotel with unconfortable beds and pillows . Needs a refresh.. I wanted to change the hotel but all were fully booked so I had to complete my stay there. The only thing was not so dissapointing was the breakfast.
