Very central to the Heart of the cityPosted Oct 25, 2014
Despite a route march to and from our room with no lift facility we had a very enjoyable stay - thank you.

Lovely hotel with so much history.Posted Oct 21, 2014
Pros: Friendliness and location
Cons: Can't think of anything!
Location: Opposite the beautiful Cathedral and easy walking into the main town.
The staff were excellent friendly, polite and very helpful. The hotel is in an ideal location for exploring Norwich and opposite the Cathedral. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed! They are busy renovating some of the bedrooms but work doesn't begin until 9.00am so never bothered us! A lovely two days, wished we could have stayed longer, will definitely stay at The Maids Head again

Feature room was a winner.Posted Oct 7, 2014
Pros: The feature room, the staff and the sense of history and plushness at a reasonable price.
Location: Location was perfect for walking and exploring. Being right next door to the Cathedral was amazing. City Cinema was a great experience for a movie.
Our room had lots of space and natural light whilst being relatively quiet. Very comfortable bed and a decent bath. All these features are important for us and The Maids Head delivered. They were overbooked when we first arrived and we were given a very noisy attic room but with a bit of shuffling on their part the wonderful staff were able to come up with something 100% better. Can't say enough about how much we appreciated this. It was a very important trip for us. Loved the hotel's bar and restaurant too.....great lunches.

Character hotel close to everythingPosted Sep 25, 2014
Pros: Quaint exterior and good location. WiFi worked well
Cons: I was in a newer part of the hotel and I was a bit disappointed that my room didn't have more character but it was comfortable.
Location: Very convenient for river walks, visits to the cathedral, castle, Playhouse or the centre of town.
The hotel was a short walk from the train station and close to everywhere I wanted to visit. My room had a view of the castle and others looked out on the cathedral. I did eat in the pub a couple of times and enjoyed that. Staff were helpful. I would definitely consider staying here again on a return trip.

Nice characterful hotelPosted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: Good staff. Clean.
Cons: Back entrance from car park could look more welcoming.
Right in the city centre, but quiet and good car parking. Staff were all really polite and helpful at reception and in the bar. Hotel seems a mixture of nicely maintained old parts with new bits and modern facilities. My room overlooked the cathedral and had high ceilings and original features, was spotless, warm and comfortable.

lovely hotel close to everythingPosted Sep 23, 2014
Staff were faultless. Breakfast all very good quality but bacon too hard (under heat lamp) Room too noisy to open window ( air con unit?). to be fair we didn't complain and there was a fan in room which helped. Perhaps we should have paid more for a superior room.

City break for friendsPosted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: I liked the location, the room, the complimentary biscuits and soaps (white company) fluffy towels - nice chambermaids.
Cons: Reception area needs development and investment, the receptionist was an embarrassment to a four star hotel.
Location: You are right beside the cathedral - lovely, we went to the city museum which was a real nostalgia trip - fun.
The hotel is central and a handy base. Overall it was a good stay. However, the receptionist wasn't friendly which made a poor first impression and she continued to be unfriendly during our stay - and while this doesn't make or break a trip it's a key part of your experience. She didn't provide the wi-fi code and we had to ask for that, she didn't ask us how our stay was when we checked out or even say goodbye. Aside from that the rooms are large, beds are comfy, complimentary biscuits very buttery, shower is strong, bathroom is large, we had a room overlooking the car park and while this didn't disturb my friend I am a lighter sleeper and certainly heard the passers by during the night - I'd suggest you ask for a quiet room if you are a light sleeper. The stay cost £384 for a twin room for two nights with breakfast - I hadn't realised when booking through expedia that breakfast wasn't included. I think this was quite expensive for what it was. Other people raved about breakfast - it was fine, it wasn't amazing but it was varied.

City centre hotelPosted Aug 29, 2014
Pros: This hotel has character.
Cons: WiFi code should last for whole stay and not need to be renewed every day.
Location: The cathedral is well worth a visit and is free to enter and gives free guided tours. There are many medieval buildings close to the hotel.
The hotel has an excellent location close to the cathedral and city centre. There is plenty of free parking and routes out of the city are easy to access. The staff are polite and helpful.
