Comfortable stayPosted Aug 24, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel is deceptive from the outside, but once you enter, the old world charm of the bar and the friendliness of the staff makes you feel instantly at home. The room was spacious with all the necessities available. The restaurant serves a varied menu of home cooked food which was very enjoyable. The English breakfast was excellent, again using local produce, sets this hotel apart from some of the others in which I have stayed. Overall excellent value for money and hope to return soon.

Comfy, good servicePosted Aug 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
The room was excellent, we also ate in and the food was good. Standard double bed in the room we had, which might be a bit tight if you need a lot of space. But on balance good hotel, good staff and good location.

A rural bit of EnglandPosted Jun 2, 2014
Pros: The old english structure and history.
Cons: Being from the US, both my wife and I could not adjust to the sole use of one heavy comforter as the top cover vs an optional sheet and over spread.
Location: We were in the area looking at the old WWII airbases. Looking for pubs that were attended by AAF staff during WWII. One being the Green Dragon.
We enjoyed the ambience both inside and out. The dinner meal was presented very well and waitress was very attentive, but I had a little $ticker shock after the conversion. Breakfast was also very enjoyable as well as the variety of beer, but not at breakfast.

Comfortable, relaxing b&bPosted May 17, 2014 on Hotels.com
The room was clean and comfortable. Great if you want some quiet time. Beautiful drive there, so great location. Make sure you know when the kitchen closes for dinner as you may get caught out and the nearest restraint or shop is a long way off. There is a chinese take away just up the road, but nothing else close by.

Food was second to none and the service also, only negative, the lady behind the bar didn't smile at me once.. I was also upgraded to a double room and everyone working there was really friendly

The staff at the Pelican were wonderful and made us feel really special. It was the perfect overnight to start our new life together with old world charm and beautiful, local decor.
