“Not the best, but good value for the money”
Centrally located on the boardwalk - we essentially parked the car and walked to everything we needed. Renovations to kitchen area were nice. Staff friendly and helpful. Certainly not a 5 star stay however, comfortable enough. The area did get loud the last night but it was a holiday so I'm sure all the hotels were loud. Wi-fi service was slow.
“Worst hotel on the VA Beach Oceanfront”
When we checked in there was dirt and debris from previous guests under the beds. The bathtub faucet leaked and we never could get anyone to come look at it. Never got maid service even though we hung the sign on our door everyday for housekeeping. Finally towards the end of our miserable stay we were able to get someone to empty the trash & bring towels. Pool was tiny & filthy with unsupervised children running around at all times of the day & night. Walls so thin you could hear every footstep overhead and entire conversations next door. Obstructed view off our tiny balcony---could actually see into the hotel next door (which looked much nicer). Ice machines were always out of ice. Most miserable hotel ever stayed in and wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy.
“great fun in Va Beach”
had a great time. hotel staff were very accomodating. we didn't have pots or pans when we first arrived, I called and within minutes, a complete new set was sent up. I needed a spatula and got one within minutes after I called down. whatever the need was, the staff accomodated without hesitation. the one thing I didn't like was the fact of one car per room. I had to find a remote garage to park the second car.
“Not impressed”
The pool is in the middle of the parking lot. I had to use the stairs my whole trip. The AC was broken my whole stay and was never fixed. Only good part about the hotel that is in a good location to different parts of va beach.
“Family vacation”
Great value for the price range.
“Don't Stay Here”
I was not expecting the Ritz, but this place was a dump. Very run down and outdated. Our room had no AC when we arrived. It was fixed the next day, I will give them that. Could not enjoy the sounds of the ocean from the patio because the giant outdoor unit runs 24 hours a day and is so loud it drowns out everything else. My kids thought they saw some bugs in the kitchenette, I didn't think much of it until I saw a roach in the bathroom. Wish I had spent a little extra money for a nicer place. I will NEVER stay here again.
“great location”
It was a good hotel for the price and location. The elevator was small and always got stuck on other floors. It seemed like the only thing the cleaning personal did was give you towels, toilet paper and made the bed. I had to do the rest. If you came here to relax don't stay here because there was a party right out on the street every night until 11-11:30pm. After all the sightseeing we did all day all we wanted to do was relax at night. We did enjoy Virginia Beach and would come back. Just don't know if we would stay here.
“Beach view on a budget”
Just returned from a July 4th stay. The Marjac was easy to find, it was three hotels on the right after turning onto Atlantic Avenue. There are a few good qualities that should be noted as much of what I say will be negative. The Marjac is a bargain if you want an ocean view overlooking the boardwalk. My kitchen had new cabinets, lovely counters, a microwave and storage so you can eat in every meal if you like. I didn't find any hotel cheaper for a beach view. However, there are several drawbacks to the place. The bedrooms are street side and it is very loud until after midnight. We had to keep the TV on to drown out the sound, which only slightly helped. I had to get my own towels one day, I called and hours later they never came. The elevator is small, only three people are supposed to ride in it and it broke once during my stay. It needed the floor changed and the interior door was very smudged. Minor repairs for sure but needed. The lobby is small, just a check in desk. There is not a restroom anywhere on the main floor or near the pool. You have to go up to your room which can be a while with the elevator situation. Finally the hotel is set back from the others, a long beach view is obstructed by the hotels on either side and there's a large loud tank on the backside which prevents you from hearing the ocean when you open the balcony door. If cost is the primary concern this may still be the best choice for an ocean view, just read the reviews first.
“Decent hotel for a good price”
We stayed at this hotel because it was cheap. It was a good value, but I have two complaints, the elevator was slow and only carried 3 people at a time and the emergency lights in the stairs didn't work. We had a storm and a power outage during our stay and we had to walk the stairs to the 6th floor in the dark. I did like its location however, because it was in the middle of the Boardwalk and all the rooms had an oceanfront view.
“Convenient and very Accomodating!”
We really enjoyed our five night stay at Marjac Suites! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. If we needed anything, they were right on top of it and made sure we were happy and comfortable. The location is great too...right there on the beach, restaurants, shops and live music! One minor thing that we would like to see improved would be the elevator which is slow (we normally took the stairs, but thankfully were on the third floor and didn't have to climb too many steps). The night life does on for a while (as late as 2:00 am some nights), and you can hear music and people partying at some of the nearby restaurant /bars but we didn't really mind that. We hope to make Virgina Beach a yearly vacation and will definitely consider staying at the Marjac Suites again!
