“Disappointing at best”
Although it was off season, it didn't seem too much to be able to expect the room to be dusted prior to our arrival and for there not to be mold on the shower curtain that was also falling off the wall. We also couldn't get housekeeping to return after noon to clean our room either. She told us she woul be on a different floor then.
“Good value”
Not a 5 Star venue but convenient, clean and good value.
“Nice Place”
The room was nice and comfortable. All staff were pleasant. A negative was a musty odor - not terrible, just there. Free parking in a nice parking garage right in the hotel a huge plus. You could stay for a week and not use your car, if wanted, since everything was available within a couple of blocks. View the fireworks from your balcony.
“Too run down”
The room was clean but the refrigerator was missing the door to the freezer and causing water to drip down on the food and it was missing a bar on the door to hold items in place. There was not a light switch for the light over the table. You had to screw and unscrew the bulb to use it. Our room was over the mechanical room and all the vents exited below our balcony making it too hot to use. We would not return to this hotel again.
“birthday gift”
Took my husband, for his birthday, on his first trip to Va Beach. We picked this hotel mainly because there was so much to do in the area that did not require actually driving. Very convenient to the local fares of Va Beach. The experience was overall pleasant. The rooms are oceanfront and the view is spectacular. We spent a good portion of our visit just watching the comings and goings on the boardwalk. The on sight restaurants were very good, especially Ammos, the greek restaurant. Yum!! The hotel is old but I saw that improvements are being made. But even with that, there was a nostalgic feel about staying in a building that has been around for a good while. And it is a pink color which seemed so retro to me, even though there is a good chance that pink is its original color. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay and will most likely visit the Sandcastle again. Staff was pleasant and helpful. My only warning would be the parking garage. Clearance is very low 6' '2" ,if I remember correctly, and the lanes are very narrow to navigate up the levels. Very tight parking. Found when we checked out that they have overflow parking across the road. Could have avoided the souvenir swipe we have on my husband's new truck. Only wish HE had been driving when it happened.
“Not Impressed”
The rooms were tiny and not very clean. I found a spot of blood on the sheets and the bathroom towels had hair all over them. I don't plan to ever stay here again.
“Way better than expected!”
I booked this hotel at the last minute and with a small budget. It was the most affordable for the 4th of July weekend. The pictures made me skeptical of staying. I am a germ phobe for real! When we got to the hotel we were very shocked to see the rooms remodeled in such beautiful decor. I was very impressed with the hotel staff and staying quarters. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION is AWESOME!
“Good stay for the price and location”
We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of june and for the price and location of the hotel it is well worth the deal. I was hesistant to book it because of some of the other reviews but in the end we were satisfied. Yeah its not the prettiest place on the block but you do have a balcony that overlooks the boardwalk, beach and pier. Beautiful sunrises. Excellent eats around, especially right across the sreet! Yeah and elevator was broke down and yeah the parking garage was usually filled to the max, and the rooms arent the best of colors (whos gonna park out in the room when they are at the beach anyway?) but the continental breakfast had many varieties of bagels and eats. They kept it well stocked up. They offered coffee/juice 24 hours a day in the lobby. Internet service in the rooms was flawless. They even supplied you with hanging wall shampoo and soap in the shower in your room. For the price that you will find at other hotels compared to this one ..... this one will give you exactly what the others will offer you and you wont go broke. I say "two thumbs up!"
“BAD DEAL”
This is a run down hotel.
“not impressed”
I was not impressed at all with the hotel. The staff was extremely impolite.
