“Not impressed”

First off the hotel is the last hotel at the end of the boardwalk and then moves into houses. The hotel is outdated, rooms were very small. Bathroom was decent size. Service at the restaurant and bar was pretty bad. Not sure if it was because it was after labor day but seemed to have gotten the "C" crew. Nice sized swimming pool. The Wave shuttle picks up right across the street but can take 30+ minutes to get down to single digit streets. For the price I would definitely not stay here again, too many other great hotels on the strip.

Area recommendations
30th Street-7th Street, great hotels: Sheraton, Hilton, Beach Quarters all close to good restaurants like Catch 31, Mahi Mas, Waterman's. Great breakfast is Pocahantas Pankcake House on 25th St, Chichos Pizza on Pacific Ave and Mahi Mas always a favorite, where they have live music playing outside. Drinks are great and bartender Keenan is the one of the best!

“WORST PLACE of our 2 week vacation”

Cavalier Hotel is pretty much a has been. It was hot in the hallways...air conditioner in our room was broken so even our room was not a pleasant temperature. The whole place seemed to be out of the 70s. I feel ripped off and do not appreciate that Expedia had this type of quality available to the consumers. I have found going directly through hotels such as Hilton and Marriott offer me the luxury I desire and the guarantee that I am somewhere I know the quality is.

Area recommendations
I saw Marriotts further up on the boardwalk that would be a more optimal location.

“It was OK”

A comfortable hotel ocean front, not luxurious but Ok, perhaps it needs a bit more maintenance. There were many extra charges like breakfast, chairs and umbrellas for the beach which we think could have been provided by the hotel within the price charged.

“Easy acess to uncrowded beach area; very friendly staff”

Difficult to book without the help of Expedia-no rooms available when trying to book with the hotel; Hotel is in need of some redecorating; the hotel staff were helpful; Always extras required to be paid, ie. renting beach chairs, cot. Breakfast buffet is pricey and not up to my standards.

Area recommendations
attractions to see that are well worth your $$ are Bush Gardens, Williamsburg,VA.; the aquarium is clean and current ; take the dolphin boat attraction at sunset to see a number of dolphins.

“very dissapointed in room for the amount”

the hotel is huge! the rooms are tiny tiney!!! the smallest room for the amount charged!!! the beds were also small could barley fit 2 average sized adults in bed. could not fit two people on balcony, had to climb over the chair to get to other one. very dissapointed!!!! cheaper and nicer rooms in florida and the carolinas!!

Area recommendations
i would not. first time in VA beach, and last. enjoyed beach, food, but for the price of my stay could go a bit further and stay nicer!!

“Nice place.”

We received an upgraded room. Because it was our 50th anniversary, the management sent up a basket with goodies. Very nice. Only problem was our neighbors were very noisy. We should have called management but didn't. The first night was very bad from 7 PM and through the night. Second night much quieter.

Area recommendations
Leesburg, VA. Lovely quaint old town. Many areas to visit, nice restauraunts and lots of outlets

“Can't wait to go back.”

Very nice location, not in the busy, crowded area of the beach. Pool was large enough for deep swimming and also had a wading pool for infants and toddlers. Staff constantly cleaning, sweeping, sprucing up all areas inside and outside the hotel. Close to the beach with provision of complimentary towels and tented area to be outside but covered shading area. Very nice hotel, pool, and restaurant staff. Ice-cream available (always an added treat). My in-laws visited a few days to spend time with us and they just LOVED IT and stayed an extra day. Can't say enough about our stay and the Cavalier Hotel.

Area recommendations
North Beach, because it is quiet with less tourists and loud bands and noise, but yet close enough if you enjoy the activities of a tourist nature.
Getting around
If you don't want to rent a car, the Wave (trolley) runs up and down Atlantic, just make sure you read all the rules and stops.

“Great Location”

This hotel is located in a nice section of Virginia Beach. It was easy to get in and out of the beach area. Also easy access to restaurants outside of Virginia Beach. This hotel had two restaurants but didn't have time to try them. We were on a whirlwind weekend for one day for a Wedding. We had our Grandson with us. He loved the pools very much and the playground.

“Poor Housekeeping, bugs...”

I was appalled when over the 2 day visit I found more cockroaches both dead and alive then I ever experienced before.... brushing one off of me in my bed!...Once you step out of the lobby the overall lack of upkeep is noticeable... the elevator floors are horribly dirty... never have I been in a hotel where the public hallways been so hot... and the ice machine was broke on our floor and the next one down. The housekeeping staff was terrible, didnt' change the sheets as was supposed to be the policy and didnt even properly make the bed the second night, I had to remake to pull the mattress pad onto the corners....and there were suspicious stains on the bathroom walls of our room! The 24 hr pool is a nice aspect and it is on a more private area of the beach, next to the residential area and the entertainment in the afternoon added a festive touch. Valet parking was convienient. Dont bother with the hotel restaurant - and be careful to confirm the reservation does include breakfast as we were turned down after I was sure it was I how I booked it. Manager seemed less than concerned during my discussion about our stay's issues. Check the cancellation policy if you are going to book, it was nearly a week in advance, and when I wanted to change I was going to loose one nights fare... Too high priced for this type of stay!

“Can't wait to go back!!”

I was very impressed with the Cavalier. The staff was friendly and courteous, the room was excellent and the beach was secluded. The Pool and outdoor eating area was also a plus. They even had a small playground for my 3 yr. old! I can't wait to go back!!
