Charged to self park which I find as unreasonable.
Posted Jan 28, 2013
Pros: It wasn really clean and rthe staff was outstanding...
Cons: Drop those self parking charges or at l;east warn the guest beforehand...
Location: I was visiting a friend and wanted to go to the Nauticus...Found the location great for that...
Location was good for my interests...Again, where does this self parking charge come from???...I'm wondering now if it was included with the Expedia charges...Had I used a Valet service I could understand, but not having to park my own vehicle...Why, I could have done something else w/my car had I known about these charges...Totally unacceptable...I'll go to another hotel in the future and ask about that chage there...

Decent

Pros: Clean and nice appearance.
Cons: Parking.
Location: Zoo, Nauticus, shopping, close to the water.
Good location in downtown Norfolk. Convenient to anything you would want to do while in Norfolk. Slightly annoying to have to pay $10 for parking (during the off-season). No elevators from the parking lot.

Not good!
Posted Jan 29, 2013
Pros: None
Cons: Everything - If you are lucky then you might get hot water for shower, otherwise, call and wait, no bottle water, no coffee, dump and bad smell
If someone has a choice, then please stay out of it.

Unusual Place but happy w. the deal on Expedia
Posted Jan 21, 2013
Pros: I liked the staff and the stylish attention to esthetic.
Cons: Wireless internet inconsistent. In looking down from the 12th floor the old pool is abandoned and a murky dark green brown. It has seen grander days.
Location: Odd part of town - over the top 60s 70s architecture.
Very odd huge hotel in Norfolk. Big high-styling lobby (enormous) with artsy somewhat spooky decor. I was a bit worried. The outside looks a bit abandoned and so big, a white elephant of architecture. Arrived late and front desk man was kind - I felt like I was in some grand David Lynch film. My room was on the top floor - 1215 with a big view. The room was clean and elegantly stylish and I was happy to have scored this for 2 nights for 135 dollars on Expedia's unknown reduced rate sell-off. A couple of odd things about the room: my room's desk-table was extremely wobbly, perhaps a badly assembled piece of furniture. Just slightly touching it would make it sway. The TV was old-style, non flat-screen (but i don't watch tv so no big deal). Tub was smallish. Bed was large, comfortable King-size with 'select a number' inflation sleep-number system. Wireless internet was bad - intermittent signal. All in all the room was classy and nice and clean and I was happy - but there is a sense that things are just being held together and perhaps under new management and it's a big elephant to maintain. All of the staff I met were nice and positive. I'd say if you are adventurous and on your own and can get a deep discount rate that the comfort will outweigh any of the quirks. If you are planning an important stay with family or a loved one perhaps it's better to play it safe and pay more for a tried and true chain or at least to look at hotels and rooms in person if you have a chance.

Reasonable price for an overnight stay.
Posted Jan 18, 2013
Pros: Employees were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: It's a shame the hotel needs updating and repairs to brighten it up.
Location: No restaurants in the immediate area. Closest restaurant in walking distance was half a mile in the city where parking can be difficult to find.
Service was good, price reasonable, but the hotel is in much need of repairs and updating. Restaurant was not open for a real breakfast and lunch, only dinner.

Save your money and stay somewhere else
Posted Jan 9, 2013
Pros: Absolutely nothing.
Cons: The hotel was a complete dump.
Location: Apparently not too far from Nauticus.
I arrived at the hotel around 9pm, in a downpour. The first door i saw was 12 steps up and there was a paper sign hung on the door stating "hotel entrance:. After climbing the stairs (which had nothing to provide traction against the rain), the door was locked. I then had to walk around the hotel to what turned out to be the main entrance and climb two sets of of stairs that were 22 sets of stairs each.Again, these sets of stairs had no anti-slip protection. Upon entering the hotel, my feet were wet and other than a rug between the sliding front doors and another one inside, I almost fell on the slick surface. Overall there is a general lack of upkeep to the entire hotel. The bathroom ceiling was covered in mold. The shower floor pan was cracked. Tiles on the floor were broken, wallpaper was peeling, the cover for the heating/ac panel was broken and just left lying on top to appear as if it was intact. The bed appeared to be an adjustable air bed-the controller was broken.
