Not your average Wyndham Resort

Posted Apr 17, 2015
The staff was really friendly and tried to meet my expectations but it was just too many things that just could not be fixed. The first room I received was room 1401 right by the elevator. Upon entering the room it smelled horrible I Soo noticed trash under the bed and heating system. I then opened the drawers to find more trash. I pulled the covers back to inspect the bed as I do with any hotel and to no surprise I had dirty sheets covered in hair and lipstick on one of the pillows and dirt on another. Disgusted I called the front desk and was offered another room 1508 which was cleaner than the last room but still was not as clean as I was use too. I do not recommend this hotel if you're looking for a clean and comfortable stay.

Pros: Staff, views
Cons: Remodeling, wifi, additional staff, better sound insulation between rooms
Location: It's a beautiful beach location, surrounded by beach houses. Dress code in the lobby would be nice.
The hotel is in need of renovation, which I understand is upcoming. The day we arrived was rather difficult for hotel and guests, due to the sudden departure of several of the housekeeping staff. This delayed check-in, room availability, and cleaning service throughout our stay. The location and view were beautiful, although it is cut off from shopping and restaurants (other than their own, which was very good.) We found the staff to be very kind and courteous. Wifi didn't work for us on the 8th floor of the tower, and that was very inconvenient. If I were to stay there again, I'd wait until after they renovate.

Room had half the electrical outlets not working. Could not use phone, alarm, or bedside lamps. Huge cable wire was hanging down exposed at balcony.

We didn't have a housekeeping for two days and we kept calling them for it ,the just brought us some fresh towels and left they didn't clan the room so we had to call again for them to bring us a vacum cleaner so we can clean the room ourselves .thats was really bad.

A few days over spring break 2015

Posted Apr 12, 2015
Pros: See above
Cons: Prove guests with a lighter option than the duvet -- a bedspread or single blanket. Check-in time could be expedited.
Location: The location is the 5700 block of Atlantic Ave in VA Beach. The VA Beach boardwalk ends at the 4200 block so it is 1.5 miles north of the boardwalk.
We stayed at the Wyndham VA Beach for 2 nights in early April, 2015. Everything went very well. It did take a while to get checked in due to a holdup with one guest leaving just one desk person to check in the rest of us. We had an ocean view king room on the 3rd floor and were very pleased with our accommodations. Great view up & down the beach from our nice-sized balcony. The room was very clean. The bed was reasonably comfortable although the only covers were 2 sheets & a down duvet (which is always too hot for us). Plenty of comfortable pillows. The room had a sizeable bar area with its own small sink, microwave and frig -- somethings we really appreciate. The bathroom was fine. The shower worked well with steady temp & flow. The desk & housekeeping staff were friendly. We would definitely stay there again. I made the reservation without realizing that the hotel is not on the VA Beach boardwalk - something we thought we wanted. As it turned out, we liked it better! Less noisy, fewer people on the beach, etc. And it's close enough that driving to the boadwalk area takes no time at all. Parking is free - they have a large parking garage in addition to a sizeable parking lot.

Quiet, away from the chaos, great value + service

Posted Apr 5, 2015
Cons: My microwave didn't work
Location: Definitely visit Fort Story where only the locals go. Feels like the Caribbean and is usually warmer than the oceanside.
This place was great! Amazing value, view, quiet and away from the boardwalk chaos. Beautiful area. Service was amazing!

Pet-Friendly!

Posted Apr 3, 2015
One of the more affordable hotels in Virginia Beach that is pet-friendly! Stand alone hotel located on the north end of the beach, so very private but no direct access to Boardwalk, which is about a mile away. Close driving distance to Harris Teeter and Farm Fresh. Pet friendly rooms are all ocean view with balconies.
