lovely refurbished 1892 InnPosted Sep 12, 2014
Pros: everything. A delightful stay.
Cons: at least an ice machine somewhere in the inn. Not sure how anyone enjoys a bottle of water without keeping it cold.
Location: good food, coffee shops, shopping, safe area to bike ride
pride of ownership is evident at this lovely inn, complete with floor squeaks and all the charm of an old home, filled with history. It's a short walk to the beach, making shopping, exploring the town, eating, etc. very convenient. We missed having a small fridge or access to ice to keep water, wine, beer cold but this is a wonderful spot for a getaway if that isn't an issue. Next time, I would ask for the room with a kitchenette (one is available), or go across the street to their other facility. The staff are lovely.

Really pleasant hotel...Posted Aug 23, 2014
Pros: The staff and the environment at the hotel were great
Cons: They could improve the beds and pillows...just a bit. I slept ok as did my wife, a more comfy bed would have really helped.
Location: The hotel is located about 100 yard off the beach and an easy walk into town.
This is a bed and breakfast; without the breakfast. My wife and I thought the hotel was extremely enjoyable and in a great location in Seaside

Family event.Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: It has character and was clean.
Cons: Stairs are steep.
Location: One block to the beach, one block to Broadway. This is basic Seaside, OR.
Room was quaint, but very clean. Turret Room has good space and windows. Bed was high and comfortable. Quiet at night, even though close to the beach, one block. Peak-a-boo view of the water. Grounds were immaculate and flowers were beautiful. Off street parking a real plus.

Beauty and ComfortPosted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: It has historic beauty and comfort. The location is perfect. The sunset was amazing!
Cons: To offer a continental breakfast.
Location: The location was Seaside, OR. and we were in walking distance to shops, restuarants, retail outlets and the aquarium. It was perfect!
Stayed in a beautiful circa 1892 home that is well maintained and was very comfortable and close to the ocean and retail shopping.

Nice Bed & Breakfast type place (minus breakfast)Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: Staff were friendly. Room was clean.
Location: Lots to do near by. Within walking distance of the beach, arcade, restuarants, etc.
The people and location of the Inn are great. The place is clean as well. The bed was terribly uncomfortable for my wife and I. It was too soft, we ended up with sore backs after just two nights. There also isn't much in the way of privacy. We can hear a lot of what's going on in other rooms around us and the building would shake on it's own at times, jolting us awake. The location to the beach is great during the day. At night it's proximity becomes an annoyance as inebriated people make their way to and from the beach all night. Since there is no AC in the room we had the windows open. We were also disappointed that there wasn't a mini-fridge in the bedroom. Since there is no ice machine or anything we would have liked to have been able to keep a few bottles of water cold. This place does not qualify to be rated as a three star facility.

Pros: Unique and well restored historic home in a great location. Quiet but close to everything.
Location: 1 block off the beach and promenade, and 1 block off of main street, with lots of shops and entertainment.
Lovely quiet room, with VERY comfy bed. Best sleep in a week! Relaxing. Will definitely return for another stay.

Nice hotel and it is close to the beachPosted Aug 4, 2014
Little disappointed that there was in air conditioning and no small refrigerator. Opening the window is great and you get a nice ocean breeze, but you also get all the noise from the neighboring businesses.

Good Location for Adults Near the BeachPosted Aug 2, 2014
Pros: The shower and the bed were great and pleasant surprises.
Cons: Provide a small breakfast, like coffee and scones, along with the fresh fruit. There was only one chair in the room, another chair would be great.
Location: The location is the best thing the Gilbert House has to offer. It's within walking distance to everything in Seaside.
Great location, just a block off the Prom, which is a two mile walkway running parallel to the beach. The Gilbert House is very old, and has a lot of character. The stairs creak and the house has that very old smell to it. However, the bathroom was modern, with a very nice shower, the bed was very comfortable, and the room was surprisingly quiet. I didn't hear any noise from the other guests while in the room, however there were no young children there during our four-day stay. I think it's a great place for couples, but not a lot to offer for kids. There is no air conditioning, which required the window to be open in late July. With the open window and the ceiling fan, the room was pleasantly warm, not too hot for us to sleep. Unfortunately, the open window was a source of noise when late-night beach goers walked past the house, or a car left the parking garage next door. This was not too much for us to bare, but it was slight inconvenience. There was no breakfast provided, even though there is a modern looking sun room and outdoor deck that looked like a dining area. Fresh fruit was provided with an assortment of tea, and there were freshly baked cookies one day. The cookies may be a daily thing, we just weren't at the hotel every afternoon, when I think they were served.

Cozy hotel near the beachPosted Aug 2, 2014
Location: Beach, bustling boardwalk with shops, restaurants, arcades, etc.
I had a lovely stay here. The staff were super friendly, the room was immaculate, and the Inn was super close to the beach. I was traveling solo and felt very safe/comfy here. In fact, I slept like a baby on the super comfy bed. The Inn was steps from the boardwalk which make for a nice evening stroll along the beach. It was also really close to all of the various restaurants, shops, etc. You could easily .bop back and forth between the Inn, beach, and boardwalk. The Inn is ideal for solo guests and couples or folks who are more low key travelers. It's a quiet place at night so rowdy groups/ families with young kids may opt for a different space. (You'd probably feel out of place/a bit stifled.)
