Bed and Breakfast (without breakfast)Posted Apr 8, 2015
Pros: Close to the beach and the historic background.
Cons: Hand soap in the bathroom, another small garbage can in the bedroom, a fridge & microwave at least in the sun room, and provide breakfast.
Location: Close to the heart of Seaside, within walking distance of shopping and restaurants, and just a couple minutes walk to the beach.
The Gilbert Inn is a charming place stay, and close to the beach. We hoped for a little better view of the ocean, but we had just a peek. The staff seemed to hide in their back room a little bit, I don't think we ever saw them at the front desk, but that's ok. It made it feel like we were staying at Grandma's house while she is on vacation rather than being watched every time we made a move. There are no fridges or microwaves in the rooms, so we ended up wasting a lot of leftovers. The first day we were there,we were provided with 2 bottles water, some breakfast snacks and some taffy. That was a nice touch, but we stayed more than one day, and I felt like the room should have been totally refreshed every day as if we had checked out and back in, but all we got on our subsequent days was our bed made and our towels folded back up on the racks. Overall, we still enjoyed our stay. For the price,it wasn't a bad deal, but when you classify yourself as a "bed and breakfast", I expected just a little bit more from the staff. I didn't realize breakfast wouldn't be included until after we'd already booked the room, otherwise we would've chose somewhere else.

Winter get-a-wayPosted Feb 17, 2015 on Hotels.com
What a beautiful inn to retreat to on our winter get-a-way. It was more than we anticipated. We enjoyed a comfy bed in quaint and quiet surroundings. Cookies and a fire greeted us upon arrival. Will definitely recommend this jewel to friends!

Beautiful Historic InnPosted Jan 2, 2015
The Gilbert Inn is a beautifully maintained historic inn located near both the beach and shopping. My room was comfortable, very clean and quiet despite staying on New Year's Eve. It is strictly an inn with no breakfast provided, but several good restaurants are within walking distance. I would recommended the Gilbert Inn to others and hope to return for another stay.

Wonderful Victorian InnPosted Dec 15, 2014
The Inn has not lost any of its charm in the last 20 years but the location has been heavily surrounded by 8 story condos providing a canyon affect of noise and lights. From our quaint turret room we could still see a 6" patch of the ocean.

A Little Disappointed This Time AroundPosted Oct 22, 2014 on Hotels.com
This was our second stay at the Gilbert Inn within the past three years. Our first stay was exceptional this one, however, was lacking. We stayed in the Kimberly Room. The first thing we noticed were two large stains on the carpet. A couple of times we were met at the front desk with a sign stating "they would be back in a few minutes". We booked a room with a queen bed and got a full size bed instead. Our biggest concern was the bathroom. The toilet was about as small as one could get and the shower was not built for someone over 5 1/2 feet tall. I am six foot and found myself, even with the shower nozzle has high as it could go, having to bend over to take a shower. On the plus side the cleaning staff did a great job. We will most likely look for other accomodations on our next visit.
