I would give this hotel a solid 3.5 stars (out of 5) rating. There are pros & cons to staying here, as there usually are for hotels away from the middle of the city. So they are: Pros: • Free breakfast (typically scrambled eggs, sausages, and very thin/small pancakes, oatmeal, cold cereal, and continental style breakfast pastries) • Free parking (plenty of spaces including street parking) • Proximity to Portland (about 15 minutes drive into the heart of Portland with close freeway access). • Coffee/Tea (there's a hot coffee, tea, hot water station available to you in the lobby) Cons: • Comfortability (the bed we slept on in room 130 was NOT comfortable at all! It is dipped in on one side and it felt like I was sleeping in a hammock) • Noise (this is important to me because along with comfortability, the noise level from neighboring rooms impacts the amount of sleep you get. But every morning, I could hear our neighbors talking! Either the walls or thin or they love to talk really loudly. Also, the AC/heat unit made lots of noise while on) • Room amenities (while not high on the list of priorities for people trying to budget while traveling, the amenities in the actual room, such as shampoo & conditioner & soap, clothes hangers in closet, blow dryer are all very low quality. I am used to having lotion provided and there was none. Again, I understand this may or may not deter you, but you can definitely feel like you're staying at the budget friendly Residence Inn and not th

"Full service, right after the river"
After an Alaskan cruise and 4 days in Seattle we planned a day trip to Mt. St. Helen (a 3 1/2 hour drive) and instead of driving all the way back to Seattle we decided to spend the night in Portland (1 1/2 hour drive) and fly home from there. We were able to get a great rate at the Red Lion through Expedia. It was just supposed to be a place to crash before we flew home, but now we can't wait to return. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We ate dinner in the Jantzen Beach Grill located just off the lobby. The food was fantastic and the view of the river was stunning. We did not pay for an upgraded room with a water view, but we could see a little of it from our window and we were just a few steps from a door that lead right out to it. It was a perfect spot for an evening stroll. After a quick trip to the iconic Voodoo Donuts (I recommend the maple bacon) we were ready to turn in for our early morning flight. We asked for additional pillows and received them within 10 minutes, the front desk checked us in with the airline and printed out our boarding passes with a smile. We were sad to leave and wished that we had more time.

"Okay for a cheap stay"
If you just need a place to crash and don't want to spend a lot of money, this Days Inn is totally adequate. The staff at the front desk were all quite friendly and helpful. The room I stayed in was older, but well maintained. It was cleaned thoroughly each day. It also had a mini-fridge and microwave! The bed was very squeaky and not the most comfortable. Some parts of the hallways smelled like urine. The room did not have a discernible odor, thankfully. The included breakfast was pretty standard. I had a banana and cereal every day. Really the only downside is that there's a lot of drifters around this area. Where do they even come from? This place is really out of the way, why are they walking around and how did they get out here? There were also more weirdos than usual staying at / loitering around inside the hotel, but I guess that's a factor of the affordability.
