“Lovely hotel, better than i thought it would be.”

Easy to find as on the main road, but rooms are far enough away from the road, so no noise issues. Staff were friendly, and Italian Restraurant attached was nice food and reasonable in price. Rooms were very nicely decorated and very clean, but very warm, although did turn the radiator down, so manageable.

“Middlesbrough needs better hotels! OK for price, but shower just dangerous”

I stayed one night at the Best Western in Middlesbrough. My first choice would have been the Thistle in centre of town, which is better but fully booked on a Monday night! Best Western is about 20 mins walk from centre of town on a quite busy road in a residential area. Hotel is generally a bit shabby and dated, but areas and rooms were clean. Room was comfortable enough. Facilities rather basic, but functional - expect the shower which randomly stopped sending through cold water every so often causing scalding hot to come out. This is just dangerous, but Reception did not seem too concerned when I reported it on check out. Had meal in restaurant downstairs which was nice food and portions too big really. Breakfast was equally generous the next day. I would say overall that this hotel is second to the Thistle in the area, and is cheaper. I have stayed in Middlesbrough quite a bit for work and am amazed how often the main hotesl are fully booked mid-week. This area needs more hotels to choose from.

“Not good value for money”

This hotel was conveniently situated for a course at the hospital. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The single room was expensive and was small and smelled of stale cigarette smoke. The shower in the en suite bathroom leaked dramatically and there was little that could be done apart from provision of extra towels! Not an uplifting experience overall!
