A wonderful timePosted Oct 26, 2014
Diane and Peter were wonderful hosts. Very helpful even took our bags up to our room. The room was very comfortable and very clean. Diane served an excellent breakfast each morning and was very helpful in helping us plan our day. Her recommendations for where to have dinner were prefect. She book our taxi and served breakfast earlier because we had to catch a train. It is a good ten minute walk to city centre and in a very nice neighbourhood.

Room not large enough for two people with luggagePosted Oct 21, 2014
Pros: very convenient walk to York City. Hosts were great. The breakfasts were excellent.
Cons: If we had had a larger room with an ensuite there would be no problem. It ws not as if we had booked at the last minute, we booked a room in January
Location: Great locatgion as walking distance to York City.
We had a small room on the first floor which was barely big enough for two single beds let alone our two pieces of luggage.. Our bathroom, was not ensuite but down a flight of stairs and for an older lady this was not convenient for night visits..

YorkPosted Sep 3, 2014
Pros: The breakfast was delicious and you could order anything that was not on the menu which is a help when you are a vegetarian. The staff were friendly.
Cons: there is nothing I would improve.
Location: It is an excellent location as it was only a 10 minute work to the main centre attractions with plenty of transport links to the motorway.
This was the first time I visited York and found it an excellent city break. There is so much to see and do that three days is not enough. I would recommend a city bus tour to start with as this gives you a clear idea where to go and what to see. Until this trip, I did not realise how small York was and you can get to the major areas by walking. For anyone who is interested in history this is the place especially the Jorvick centre which bought the Vikings to life. The quilt museum is a must for anyone interested in textiles and is the only one dedicated to this craft in England. I really enjoyed my trip to York and learnt so much History of the city plus England.

Comfortable and close to centre.Posted Aug 16, 2014
Lovely accommodation and we were made to feel very welcome. We were in room 5 and could here room 4 flushing their toilet every night due to loud pipes but other than that it was all good. Great amenities and nice touches, biscuits, toiletries etc. Lovely breakfast made to order.

Small but pleasant hotel in easy walk of centrePosted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: Standard of rooms, cleanliness of whole hotel and the excellent breakfast
Location: The hotel is ten minutes easy walk from York Minster and very easy to locate
There are not many rooms and our room was the attic room right at the top (although it was only three flights of stairs); however we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the room and the ensuite bathroom, though the bedroom itself was a little cramped as we were only stopping one night this did not bother us. The breakfast was excellent - one of the best we have had in a hotel and the staff were very efficient and friendly.

nice place, bit out of the wayPosted Jul 14, 2014 on Hotels.com
the Breakfast was excellent but this is a good 10 minute walk from anything in downtown York, so keep that in mind. It was okay for a stay, but no special service, recommendations, personal touches stood out.

Very HospitablePosted Jun 7, 2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed for two nights and our hosts were very accommodating and even made us an early breakfast so we could eat before attending a service at the Minster. Only 10 minute walk from Minster in a very quiet neighbourhood and on a very pleasant street. Room was beautifully decorated spotlessly clean and we both slept like a log. Highly recommended and will gladly stay again next time we are in York. Many thanks.

Just PerfectPosted May 31, 2014
Pros: The attention shown by the proprietors, the cleanliness and general presentatio. The location was also great, being only a short walk from York
Location: Everything that York has to offer
Bowen house is one of those properties you could rate six out of five! We arrived an hour after the time we advised, but this was not an issue. We were warmly welcomed and offered fresh milk for our room (which was appreciated), provided with a map and had the route into town (about 10 minute walk away) explained. Upon asking, we were also provided with some local dinner options, which proved to be excellent. The property is in immaculate condition, extremely clean and beautifully appointed, with prints of York throughout. We we're located on the top floor in an attic room, with a reasonably sized en suite bathroom. The room was nicely presented, well colour co-ordinated with lots of little personal touches. There were light switches above the bed for some excellent reading lights, a reading chair, an iPod docking station and complimentary biscuits. In the bathroom, as well as copious towels, there was shampoo and conditioner as well as cotton bud and make up pads - very much appreciated. Breakfast was served in a delightful conservatory on beautiful china. There was a good range of cereals and fruits along with a good English breakfast on offer. Like the rest of the property, this room is immaculate and has many personal touches throughout.

Familiäres Guest HousePosted May 13, 2014
