5* elegance yet very friendlyPosted Sep 19, 2014
Pros: Elegant, friendly, close to city centre and station.
Cons: Bar chairs too low cf tables for eating anything.
Location: Within walking distance of station, all inside the city walls, and many restaurants.
We had a wonderful 3 nights here. An excellent (deluxe) room, which had every facility and was very well serviced. Friendly reception, concierge and waiting staff who were also very efficient. After just this short time approaching the hotel entrance felt like coming home ! We shall be back here !

Central Location Traditional old BuildingPosted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Location room size
Cons: Lighting in bathroom and pillows also corridoors lighting and feel could be improved on.
Location: Central location to museums, shops, bars and restaurants.
Enjoyed the stay here the pool creates a lovely ambience with soft lighting. The bedrooms are large and spacious with bath robes and separate bathroom and toilet facilities. A nice luxurious stay. The corridoors did feel as though you could have been in an old film set from a hospital scary movie. Cannot comment on the food and drink.

FantasticPosted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: As above
Cons: As above
Location: York is well known for its attractions many are within walking distance of the hotel so it is ideally placed for exploring.
Staff are second to none, helpful and knowledgeable. Rooms finished to a high standard. Only a minor criticism the hallways and landings on the upper floors could do with additional furniture to fill up the voids, top of stair landings etc. In addition just a splash of colour to the walls to add some warmth, and opulence. A little too much Magnolia! Overall had a superb experience for my wife's 50 the birthday and made her weekend. We will return.

Lovely hotel conveniently locatedPosted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: What's not to like? The hotel was lovely and welcoming, with large, airy rooms and the most gorgeous bathroom you could hope to find.
Cons: Nothing. The staff was wonderful - helpful, courteous and delightful. The food was excellent.
Location: Located on the river, it was only a short walk to York Minster or the city walls. The York Museum, Jorvik Center and shopping were only blocks away.
Since we only had time for a short visit (1 night) on our way to Edinburgh, I wanted a hotel that would be within easy walking distance of the many points of interest in York. The Cedar Court was midway between the Minster area and the Jorvik Center area and just perfect.
