Excellent, a real Home from Home.

Pros: Friendly Family run Guesthouse. Ideal location for the City Centre. Excellent room facilities. Good plentiful breakfast. Off road parking. Quiet area.
Cons: None
Location: Short walk from Rail Station.15 minute walk to City Centre along the river or through park. Ideal location for exploring York, plenty to see and do.
We came to Yorkshire for a Family Wedding in York and stayed at Goldsmith's for two nights. The owners Susan and George were lovely, very friendly and helpful, so was the young man that served breakfast. Our room was at the top of the guest house so there were three flights of stairs. The room facilities were excellent. Plenty of storage space, good choice of hot drinks available and a fridge, there was also an extra wash basin. Free wi-fi and TV were also available. The on suit shower was good, there was however limited room by the wash basin and toilet (due to low ceiling) this could be a problem if you are tall. The two breakfasts were excellent with a good choice of cereal or cooked food on offer, also plenty of fruit juice, coffee and toast. We had a very enjoyable stay. Susan & George couldn't have been more obliging. The service they provided was excellent and good value for money. The food was good and plentiful. The location was ideal. What more could you ask for. We would definitely stay again.

Excellent B&B

Posted Oct 28, 2014
Pros: The warm and friendly atmosphere. Its a real shame the owners are retiring. I wish them a long and happy retirement.
Location: Lots to do and everything in easy walking distance!
Really friendly and convenient for all I needed to do in York. Comfy bed, warm room and a breakfast which was excellent, freshly cooked and pleasantly served.

Posted Sep 19, 2014
Pros: The location of this guest house was excellent, it was only a 5 minute walk into the city centre
Cons: internet tv breakfasts were very poor

The location of this guest house was excellent, it was only a 5 minute walk into the city centre. However I was not really impressed with anything else! The room was nice and clean, bed was a bit uncomfortable and the bathroom was a bit small. and damp no internet asked proprietors said it was working did not help me tried to set up for about 2hrs no luck worked on the train on the way home in seconds the freeview channels did not all work ive stayed in 2 star b/b with better facilities breakfasts were very poor egg under cooked you call this 4 star thanks but no thanks

Quiet and close to the river

Excellent, quiet guesthouse just outside the city centre. Only a five minute walk into the centre, exactly what I needed as a base, as I spent most of my time elsewhere and only really needed somewhere to stop & drop. Will definitely return if FantasyCon goes back to York...

Pros: Very nice breakfast

Location: Very close to york centre and railway station .
We we're put into a room on ground floor. This would be good for people who can't manage the stairs.

Ideal

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: I can't say there was 1 thing but for what we wanted for our stay this was great.
Location: The location was perfect, close to everything but a nice walk away from the traffic in the centre.
Excellent location, so close to the railway station, a 10 minute walk from the main entrance, or 5 if you know the route through the car park so ideal for those with no car as taxi is not required. On a quiet road so relaxing admittedly the odd train can be heard but we only noticed 1 over the 2 days we were in the area. The staff were friendly and very helpful with directions and advice of what to see. The breakfast so lovely as set us up from the day ahead perfectly. We made the decision late in the day to extend our stay regretfully they could not accommodate us however they were only too pleased to help us and found us a room for the night within minutes. I would highly recommend a stay here.
