Excellent, a real Home from Home.Posted Nov 7, 2014
Pros: Friendly Family run Guesthouse. Ideal location for the City Centre. Excellent room facilities. Good plentiful breakfast. Off road parking. Quiet area.
Location: Short walk from Rail Station.15 minute walk to City Centre along the river or through park. Ideal location for exploring York, plenty to see and do.
We came to Yorkshire for a Family Wedding in York and stayed at Goldsmith's for two nights. The owners Susan and George were lovely, very friendly and helpful, so was the young man that served breakfast. Our room was at the top of the guest house so there were three flights of stairs. The room facilities were excellent. Plenty of storage space, good choice of hot drinks available and a fridge, there was also an extra wash basin. Free wi-fi and TV were also available. The on suit shower was good, there was however limited room by the wash basin and toilet (due to low ceiling) this could be a problem if you are tall. The two breakfasts were excellent with a good choice of cereal or cooked food on offer, also plenty of fruit juice, coffee and toast. We had a very enjoyable stay. Susan & George couldn't have been more obliging. The service they provided was excellent and good value for money. The food was good and plentiful. The location was ideal. What more could you ask for. We would definitely stay again.

Excellent B&BPosted Oct 28, 2014
Pros: The warm and friendly atmosphere. Its a real shame the owners are retiring. I wish them a long and happy retirement.
Location: Lots to do and everything in easy walking distance!
Really friendly and convenient for all I needed to do in York. Comfy bed, warm room and a breakfast which was excellent, freshly cooked and pleasantly served.

B&B close to centre of YorkPosted Sep 27, 2014
Pros: Easy walk to York station and to the city centre - but you do need a map!
Cons: Larger bathroom.
Pleasant, good value for money B&B. Good for visiting York or for an overnight stop on business.

Very FriendlyPosted Sep 21, 2014 on Hotels.com
The room, breakfast and staff were excellent. Only small let down was the shower - could have been more powerful. Only other point to note is the rail tracks right across the road outside. Trains do not run late but if you like an early night they might keep you awake.

Ive stayed in 2 star b/b with better facilitiesPosted Sep 19, 2014
Pros: The location of this guest house was excellent, it was only a 5 minute walk into the city centre
Cons: internet tv breakfasts were very poor
Location: Museum shops & bars
The location of this guest house was excellent, it was only a 5 minute walk into the city centre. However I was not really impressed with anything else! The room was nice and clean, bed was a bit uncomfortable and the bathroom was a bit small. and damp no internet asked proprietors said it was working did not help me tried to set up for about 2hrs no luck worked on the train on the way home in seconds the freeview channels did not all work ive stayed in 2 star b/b with better facilities breakfasts were very poor egg under cooked you call this 4 star thanks but no thanks

MehPosted Sep 18, 2014 on Hotels.com
It was an acceptable stay. I would probably opt for something right in the heart of the City - and a chain for the amenities. That said, as B&B's go, it was a middling experience. Good rates made the choice appealing, but if I was to return I would upgrade. Other visitors were noisy, and the walls seemed paper thin. I have stayed in many (many!) B&B's - so that is based on comparables and not a sensory sensitivity on my part.

Super BnB in Top Lage.Posted Sep 16, 2014 on Hotels.com

Quiet and close to the riverPosted Sep 8, 2014
Excellent, quiet guesthouse just outside the city centre. Only a five minute walk into the centre, exactly what I needed as a base, as I spent most of my time elsewhere and only really needed somewhere to stop & drop. Will definitely return if FantasyCon goes back to York...
