Great location, professional, friendly staffPosted Apr 29, 2015
Pros: Location, room, staff
Cons: Quality of cooked breakfast, as a buffet was used the hot food was not at it's best.
Location: Location ideal, city centre only a five minute walk. Easy access to Jorvik centre, York dungeon, railway museum and the shops.
Hotel ideally situated to visit all the attractions that York had to offer. Rooms were clean, well presented and the bed ensured a good nights sleep. The hotel staff were excellent very approachable and friendly, offering advice on transport and places to visit. We had a very enjoyable stay and we would use the hotel again without hesitation.

Got a little more than had bargained for!Posted Apr 27, 2015
Pros: No matter their position every member of staff you encounter says hello. Older waiter clearing b'fast tables makes an effort to engage in conversation
Cons: If it is policy to allocate single females to an upper floor then this needs to happen every time. Did not happen on this occasion
Location: Good location. Got taxi to and from event I attended but would probably feel safe enough walking back to the hotel on own
Was allocated a basement room (6) with not a very wide floor to ceiling window that overlooks a passage with a fence and a storage area. If you looked up you saw the railings of the ground floor onto the street but room not at all overlooked by general public. Sheer striped voile at windows and a black out blind Not a major issue until the am when felt the need for more light and opened both blind and voile ( that continues past the window making you think the window is wider than it is) and had room light on. Standing with just a towel after a shower was shocked to find a staff member walking past the window and going into locked storage/aircon unit area. Hid behind the wall and waited until he had left. Drew voile back but kept light on. 5 mins later another staff member came out of locked area with a bike. Advised reception that there should be a warning on the fence visible to the guest that this area is used by staff or staff must refrain from walking past. If the passageway continues to be used for access then it means the room is not suitable because there is not enough light in the room without overhead lights and the voile and blind open. Reception apologised but this must surely have been an issue before... Toaster even when on recommended settings does not toast adequately so you have to put through twice and hot food then goes cold. Big selection of food at breakfast and no delays ( bar the toast!) Bed v comfortable. Shower pressure could be stronger.

Uncomfortable bedPosted Apr 13, 2015
Pros: Good location
Cons: Make beds more comfortable
Location: Lots to do in York
Stayed for 2 nights, was disappointed to find we had been given a room in the basement looking out at a brick wall. Also the bed was very uncomfortable

all you need for your stay in YorkPosted Apr 12, 2015
Pros: value for money
Cons: possibly Sky channels on the tv
Location: Excellent location just 10 mins walk from the train station and 5 mins to the main shopping area.
Everything about this hotel was excellent The staff were very helpful. Little touches like shampoo and conditioner in the shower. Buffet breakfast had more choice than I've ever seen at any other hotel. Even the beds in the twin rooms were bigger than normal. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is in an excellent location just near Lendal Bridge and Yorkshire museum. The staff were friendly and the room was very quiet. The information explaining which amenities were available was very clear.

ComfortablePosted Apr 7, 2015
Hotel arrangement was excellent an don't reduced NCP car parking rate with the hotel. Room was comfortable and excellent 24 hour pizza service. Only downside was the room had no windows to open for fresh air
