Fantastic room, lovely night.Posted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: Hotel has been there a long time but it didn't feel dated or tired. Bar/breakfast room had a nice atmosphere about it.
Cons: Mini fridge, should be moved to a different location in room.
Location: Great location. Virtually in the centre, but just far enough away not to be woken by the pub & clubbers.
Great room, fantastic view of Clifford's tower with a balcony. Very comfortable. Every member of staff we encountered were very professional and friendly. Would definitely book again.

Overpriced and demotivated staffPosted Aug 18, 2014
Cons: Service of staff, interior of rooms is out dated
Location: York is a wonderful city, and location is just perfect
Location of hotel is great, in the city centre of York, but hotel staff is not service oriented, and overall pricing is too high versus quality of room and service provided

Great location for York sightseeingPosted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: The location of the hotel is just great, parked our car and did not need it until our return, everything was just a short walk away.
This is a great hotel for sightseeing in York, location, location, location. In front of the tower and a short walk to all of the York tourist attractions. Rooms where on the smallish side which made it feel crowded, but great hotel staff, good breakfast buffet with very smart service.

Very convenient but quality lower than expectedPosted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: The location, the room comfort & facilities, the staff, the valet parking
Cons: Breakfast, bar prices, general ambience
Location: Very close to central York & the sites, good pubs & Betty's tearooms
Friendly, helpful staff & comfortable room, but I expected a Hilton hotel to be something special & it wasn't. Breakfast was shambolic when we arrived with lots of people waiting for a table, but the breakfast buffet was quite good. Bar prices were excessive

A good hotel easy walk to main tourist attractionPosted Aug 2, 2014
Pros: I liked the friendliness of the staff, the hotels location and the restaurant.
Cons: The room was a little small and tired.
Location: Excellent location next to Clifford tower and Castle museum.. An excellent base if you are spending a couple of days in York .
On a visit to York with young grandson. The staff were very helpful. They made him feel very welcome and were happy to chat to him about what he had done. We ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was excellent. He chose from the children's menu and really enjoyed it. The room was a little noisy early in the morning as it was near the lifts . It didn't disturb my grandson but it woke me from 6. I would stay again but wouldn't want to stay longer than a couple of nights. We stayed in a family room which was great for one adult and child but I would have found it a squash if there had been more .

Not what you would expect from an Hilton.Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: The staff and the cleanliness.
Cons: airconditioning and larger rooms
Location: great walled city with so much history you could spend a week just walking the narrow streets and visiting the wonderful churches, parks, historic sigh
The hotel was clean, well located and the staff very nice. The building has very small rooms, no air conditioning and is in need of updating. The breakfast was only a sad buffet with no ordering off the menu, something you might find in a youth hostel. Over all, ok for a short visit.

Central hotel within easy reach of attractionsPosted Jul 20, 2014
Good without being special. Opportunity missed to do more given excellent location. Nothing to make it stand out from the rest.
