nice and clean and central locationPosted Nov 26, 2013
Pros: location was excellent
Cons: the tv signal in the room wasn't that clear and a bit fuzzy/ snowstorm picture
Location: walking distance to most parts of the city so good for any kind of visitor
myself and three friends needed a nice and clean and centrally located hotel for a Saturday night in York. This provided exactly what we needed and was competitively priced when compared to other city centre hotels. no complaints at all and would happily stay there again.

Good location, tired decorPosted Nov 26, 2013
Great location opposite Clifford's Tower, and right next to the pedestrianised main city centre. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room had stains on the carpet, varnish worn off the bathroom door, shower that was not much better than just a dribble, and I'm not sure how they manage to get fuzzy reception on the tv in these days of digital signals. Needs renovating!

Nice and centralPosted Nov 19, 2013
Pros: Staff very good, especially the breakfast and car park team
Cons: Very poor size bathroom and the bed was very uncomfortable
Enjoyable visit, shame the bar prices are so high, probably explains the lack of people enjoying a evening drink or night cap.

Overlooking the Clifford TowerPosted Nov 17, 2013
Pros: Good central location, very close to the Jorvik Viking centre and York Minster.
Cons: The room we had for a deluxe room, really needed refreshing.
Location: Close to most of the major York attractions, the Railway Museum, being the furthest away on the other side of the river.
The room was OK, but for a 4 star hotel it could have been a lot better and the selection available for Tea in the room was limited.

Centrally located and close to the centre of YorkPosted Oct 22, 2013
Pros: It's central location and availability of parking.
Cons: The heating system!
Location: Overlooking Cliffords Tower and the Castle Museum, walking distance to the shops and York Minster.
I would have given a better rating if the heating hadn't been so noisy when it came on at 6pm! The staff were helpful but suggested I wait for 30 minutes and the noise should stop. The Duty Manager came up and went into some of the other rooms to adjust the radiator valves which stopped the noise. Given how warm it was outside when we stayed, the heating was overkill and made the room uncomfortably hot during the night!

Well-positioned, comfortable hotel in city centrePosted Oct 13, 2013
Pros: Staff were excellent, breakfast was very good.
Cons: Bathroom and wifi cost
Location: Great location - near main shops, Jorvik Centre, Castle Museum and Fairfax House. Minster, Shambles and Railway Museum all close by. York traffic dire
This is a very good hotel of its type - part of a chain, but with a very personal approach to guests. Food was very good, especially breakfast, and rooms were as clean and comfortable as you'd expect. Downside: clean towels every day is nice, but not very environmentally sensitive (most hotels now offer the option of using them for more than one night), and the wi-fi rate was ridiculously expensive. Staff were very chatty and helpful, and the location is perfect for seeing the whole city.
