Nice Hotel, location a little run downPosted Apr 15, 2014
Pros: The cleanliness and how modern the rooms are
Cons: Heating in the rooms
Location: Great central location, lots of shops and restaurants nearby
Hotel is centrally located although the area surrounding the hotel is mainly derelict buildings not very pleasing to the eye. Hotel its self is very modern and clean, staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room was very clean bed was comfy with nice cotton sheets and a duvet, Only negative I could say is the room was a bit chilly. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

Staff unusually helpful.Posted Apr 15, 2014
Pros: See above.
Cons: See above.
Location: Location was fine - I was mainly interested in York Minster Cathedral.
I felt the staff were unusually helpful - many thanks. I found the hotel hard to find. Most fo the buildings on the street seemed not to be numbered - I found [I think I have the right numbers] nos. 75 and 32 and guessed that your no. 53 would be somewhere in between - I was wrong.

Hotel in great location.Posted Apr 14, 2014
Pros: Location, and size of hotel (this was a re visit we stayed in 2012)
Location: Castle Museum, Clifton Tower are right on your doorstep. With all other's a 10 minute walk
Hotel 53 is a nice boutique hotel right in the centre of York. Facility to park your car at £10 per night which is very reasonable when you look at other parking options. The rooms are a decent size with nice en-suite facilities. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the main area of York, its a nice flat walk for anyone with walking difficulties.

Modern hotel close to city centrePosted Apr 1, 2014
Modern hotel close to city centre. Opposite travelodge and wetherspoons. It worked out cheaper than going to the two star travel lodge! Nice clean room, reception staff great & knowledgable but the only poor things was bed was really hard and because it's on wheels It moved Around every time I lent against it. And the night porter was nice enough but he couldn't poor a pint to save his life. Car parking is expensive too. Still, modern, clean hotel, so close to all attractions. Would recommend.

Clean and modern hotel. Five minute walk to all shops, bars and restaurants. Would have liked to of been able to check in before 15.00 but reception staff allowed us to leave our bags at hotel when we arrived.

Excellent for a few days stayPosted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: Nice atmosphere, close to city centre, modern and the fact it wasn't a Premiere Inn/Travelodge/Holiday Inn
Location: Google 'York' and see where it takes you :-)
Whilst we only stayed for one night, you could easily stay for 2 or 3 nights at this hotel. It's located close enough to the city centre to not be worried about transport during your stay. It is however down a very quiet commercial/industrial type street, so could be a little unnerving if you're on your own at night. The room was a great size even though the double sofa bed was pulled out for our son to sleep on. The bathroom was also a good size - with a fabulous shower and amazingly fluffy towels. The main bed was also really comfy with good quality bed linen. There was minimal hanging space - but only what you'd expect at this type of hotel. There was a bar downstairs which served a limited 2 lagers and 1 bitter on draft - but there was a good wine list and a fair number of spirits behind the bar. The breakfast was really good - all hot, and even the sausages were really nice (I'm fussy when it comes to sausages!). All the staff that we encountered during our stay were friendly and all dressed in a 'corporate' uniform. I think the only critisicm would be that the matress on the sofa bed was quite thin - but this is what we've come to expect with sofa beds. Our advice for a family would be to ask if there are any rooms on the back of the hotel. There is a very busy pub across the road and there was considerable noise until the pub shut. If you're out drinking in York it wouldn't really bother you! Would we come back? Absolutely!
