Convenient LocationPosted Apr 28, 2015
Pros: Location, free alcohol and soft drinks
Cons: mattress, room temperature and curtains
Location: 15 mins gentle stroll into town. Heading down the side streets changes the walk into town from a road to an open park by the river.
Nice hotel in a traditional building. Well designed interior and furniture and bathroom was clean and modern. Nice bonus of complementary alcohol and soft drinks and room had a Tassimo coffee machine. Mattress could have been more comfortable and black out blinds would have probably improved sleep quality. Also room was quite warm and stuffy (in April) so had to sleep with window open. With a busy road outside this meant that sleep was disturbed by cars and motorbikes fairly early in the morning.

Nice York Hotel/B&BPosted Apr 25, 2015
Location: York is a great historic city. Many things to see and do..
I stayed three nights. The hotel is older and really felt more like a B&B than a hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. Good location about a 10 minute walk from York Minster. The room had a safe and a refrigerator with limited free beverages (two 250 ml bottles of water, one 250 ml beer, and 125 ml bottle of wine. Not a lot but more free stuff than I have ever gotten in any other hotel and yes it was really free). The hotel is multistory and has no elevator so if stairs are an issue be sure to book a room on the ground floor. Overall a pleasant stay and good value.

Great stay at NoirPosted Apr 11, 2015
Pros: Rooms were nicely decorated, very clean and furnished well. Pleased with the free wifi in room and staff were very welcoming and accommodating
Cons: Location was slightly further from the centre of York than expected but still a walkable distance of about a 12 minutes to the cathedral
Location: Pub and restaurant next door. Quite a few quirky small shops around the area
Rooms were lovely and looked great, price was reasonable, staff were friendly and helpful, overall had a great experience with the hotel and would book to stay again

Compact RoomsPosted Apr 7, 2015
Pros: The hotel decor and service from staff
Cons: The heating of the compact rooms. I stayed in room 413 and I suspect as it is at the end of the corridor it suffers a little bit
Location: Conveniently close to the centre. 10 minutes walk from the minster where you have access to the entire centre of York
Take note the compact rooms are exactly what they say on the tin! I made a mistake by booking it for a week long business trip when I should have paid the extra and stayed in a standard double or other. The room itself was great if you were on a 1 or 2 night stay. Location is outstanding, breakfast is good quality and the staff were very friendly and attentive at all times. The room did have a couple of issues with heating, I found it very cold in the mornings which was unexpected. The electric fan heaters in the room should have been the clue on that and once I found them they seemed to do the job. Overall I think this was a good hotel at great value, although next time I visit I will be upgrading to a slightly more spacious room.

Standards have droppedPosted Mar 26, 2015
Have used this hotel a number of times, and always found it excellent. This time we found a few of the little things which made this a great hotel were lacking. Examples included room had a bad smell, we had to open the windows and let it air. Mini bar was missing the usual chocolates and small bottle of fizz. The breakfast was nowhere near as good as it had been in the past, smaller portions, also burnt.

Weekend Stay 21/02/15Posted Feb 23, 2015 on Hotels.com
Generally the hotel was fine however we had to send back an evening meal as it wasn't cooked correctly, the single beds were uncomfortable and in need of replacement, there was a nice coffee machine but no tea in the room, and unfortunately other guest spoilt the night when returning from a night out they made a lot of noise including switching the TV on very loud for 4 hours in the early morning and there was no staff to complain too.

dont be fooled by free parkingPosted Feb 21, 2015 on Hotels.com
The hotel itself was clean, and breakfast was good. The staff were excellent BUT the car park was small and not many spaces - not enough for all the guests. The car park also had a narrow entrance which we gained a dent and a white stripe trying to get in!! Also the beds were very uncomfortable. hard and the double bed the slats were broken underneath. We wont be staying there again.

Great stayPosted Feb 18, 2015 on Hotels.com
We enjoyed our one night stay at Hotel Noir. The room was clean and the theme was nice throughout, comfortable bed with all the essentials in the room. It was a short distance to the town centre around a 15minute walk. The staff on reception were friendly. We didn't eat there however the restaurant and bar looked lovely.
