Good b and b but no shower, bath only, no chairs in room, sot on bed, and bring a portable razor.

long weekend in whitby

Posted May 30, 2014
Pros: pleasant large attic room with nice bathroom, enthusiastic staff, great location close to everything
Cons: can't do anything about parking or elevator bathroom should be en-suite for price open restaurant for dinner
Location: Lovely old port with important historical (Capt Cook) and literary (Dracula) associations lots to see and do especially eat and drink
quiet courtyard location in old Whitby. delightful large attic room with sitting area and private (but not "en-suite" bathroom reached across an open stairway very enthusiastic young staff although breakfast service inaccurate no parking near hotel and public car parks cheap (GBP 6.00 per day) but full by 9a.m. Nearest park about 5 mins walk away (good luck getting in!). Many wonderful restaurants with an emphasis on local fish and seafood beach walk to Sandsend (about 1 hour) well worthwhile as are numerous boat trips many other things to see and do hotel restaurant good but not open in evening, a pity steep stairs, no lift In spite of niggles would go there again

Sander's Yard two-nighter

Posted May 30, 2014
Pros: Considerate staff. Grandson's favourite was the toys in the huge bath. Delicious breakfast food. Felt safe with a young child. Quiet but convenient.
Cons: Cleaner missed a bit of carpet sweeping one day.
Location: In Old Town near harbour and Abbey. Over the bridge to the pier; steam bus; North York Moors Railway; many and various food outlets; Park and Museum.
Booked easily on line, repeat visit for me. Attentive welcome. My 5 year old grandson and I stayed two nights midweek.

Lovely B&B in a lovely town.

Posted May 30, 2014
Pros: Everything.
Cons: Not much.
Location: Great location - only a short walk to everything.
A lovely warm B&B in a little laneway off a cute cobblestone road full of old pubs and shops. Whitby is a REALLY pretty town with lots to see in the area. Must visit the old Abbey on top of the hill. The area is delightful. Highly recommended. No on-site parking, but public car park (free 6pm to 9 am) very close.

We had a good stay at Sanders Yard . We really enjoyed the breakfast. The booking in service was very good & fast as was breakfast service. The hotel is in a pefect position for sight seeing & restaurants. We would stay at Sanders Yard again.

Very Central

Friendly staff, great room and good breakfast. Situated off one of the main shopping streets, very quaint and picturesque. Enjoyed our stay although room was probably a little over priced.

We have stayed here many times and have never been disappointed by any of their properties. The welcome tray has a lovely selection of drinks and biscuits. The staff are friendly and welcoming their wonderful breakfast adds to a great stay.

Not for business

Posted Nov 16, 2012 on Hotels.com
Despite the staff being really helpful this hotel struggles with capability, we arrived and had to wait in the dark for 10 minutes for someone to let us in, the nearest parking is a 10 minute walk away, as we were on business we needed an early breakfast and as the hotel were not equipped for this we had to use what was left outside our door, they did try hard to sort this out albeit by telephone but i dont think they take the ethos of running an hotel very seriously
