York is a great destination.Posted Jul 5, 2015
Pros: I liked the view of the back gardens. It's a lovely spot to sit and relax.
Cons: All of England needs to improve their use of A/C. A concierge lounge would be nice. I miss the evening snacks.
Location: A good location away from the town which seems to turn into a young folks town at night. The bars get to be lively.
The taxi from the train station was around 6 pounds. Had expected it to be more based on reviews I read. We booked this hotel via an on-line service which was cheaper than the price on the Marriott website. Because of that, I was told that I wouldn't receive Marriott points for the cost of the room. Must be a small asterisk in the rules somewhere. I'm a lifetime platinum elite member and asked for a room upgrade. Was told nothing was available and was given a room that was quite small and hot. We turned on the A/C and went out for awhile. A couple of hours later when we returned the room was still hot. Obviously the A/C unit needed to be serviced. The front desk sent someone up to confirm my problem and offered to find a different room for us if we desired. Of course we did. The room we were moved to was what I would call an upgraded room....so, I guess there was one available afterall. Rascals ! The A/C worked fine and we were content. Morning breakfasts were great, plenty of cereal, fruits, breads, and hot food from which to choose. A bus stop is nearby to get into center city if you don't want to walk (a little over a mile to the city gate). We walked one way and returned either via taxi or bus. After all the walking that is done around this quaint town, walking another mile plus back to the hotel is a bit much. The town is fun. Many shops, restaurants, and museums. York Minster is a very impressive cathedral and the Even Song service is a special treat.

A lovely hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Unfortunately, our mattress was hard and sloped towards the middle. Apart from that, very good

Good location, Great City. One ComplaintPosted Jun 23, 2015
Pros: The Gym and the Pool
Cons: The BEDDING!!
Location: Hotel 2 k to city. Take the 4 bus and buy 380 pence ticket. other buses they will charge you more for the all day ticket. 2 shops nr by 4 basixs
Room is good for the the Uk, Clean and big. Great Fridge as well. Only complaint was the bed although huge (King) was way too hot, and there as no sheet so you either froze or boiled. It was 7 degrees outside and we had the Air con on ALL the time Great Fitness facilities as well the treadmills work (for a change) and the pool is great
