"A great place to stay to explore the Black Forest"

"Cozy Room, Excellent Food!"
The only thing I would suggest are ear plugs, the large cozy rooms are a bit thin, I could hear my neighbor snoring. Other than that everything else was excellent, I highly recommend a stay here!

"One of the best small hotels I've been"
The hotel is located in a very picturesque neighborhood. The owner is a great and easygoing person. He did a great job to make my stay there remarkable. He speaks English so that there was no communication barrier. Rooms are spacious and nicely decorated, everything is immaculately clean (as always expected in Germany). Breakfast was really delicious with authentic local meat. Once entered the breakfast room, you would eager to grab a camera and make pictures, so nicely was it decorated. Overall great experience. I would stay there again and highly recommend this place to everyone. Giving this place a five star review.

"Nasty and gross!"
The hotel ratings, reviews and pictures just not describe our experience. We travel a lot and stay from high end hotels to mom-n-pop B&Bs. However, this was the worst hotel ever. We stayed one night of our multiple night stay as it was too nasty to remain there. The staff was happy to cancel the remaining reservation without a refund. We left anyway. The hotel looks abandoned and has a haunted/spooky feel. It is very old, dreary, and depressing. The stairways are dark; the hallway is dark until you can find the light in the hallway (not automatic); bathroom is so old-rusty metal parts in the tub and lots of mold on the shower curtain; tissue dispenser kept falling off; one bed-side lamp didn't work; dusty all over; paint/wallpaper peeling all over the walls. We could hear other guests (showers, toilets, and other sounds) in the room. The heat worked in the bath, but not in the bedroom. We chose it for a spa hotel and having an on-site restaurant. We tried to have dinner but was told there wasn't much food to be served and better to go into town. The 15 min walk down hill into town is not bad, but the path is dark w/lots of bushes and doesn't feel safe. The walk back up the hill is no fun. Spa--what spa? Breakfast was bad, too (along with the usual cold breakfast items, there were cold scrambled eggs and sausages)--there were 4 bullet casings outside the breakfast room window. Overall, a bad place to stay.

"More than happy with my choice"
Stayed for 3 nights in Feb 09. Hotel is 100mtrs from town centre. Easy parking on-site. Warm and friendly welcome/check-in. There is a lift for those unable/unwilling to use the stairs. My room was airy and spacious, clean and well decorated. Powerful en suite shower. Plenty of towels. Complimentary shower gel. Quality nets and thick, heavy drapes.Next to no traffic noise. Adequate wardrobe space and occasional furniture. Great views over the town from the right rooms due to hotel's elevated position. Comfortable, newly decorated breakfast room in hunting lodge style i.e. exposed beams, stuffed animals etc. Breakfast is typical continental buffet style of good quality with the usual choice of cold cuts, cheese, breads and conserves. Nice coffee. The tram/bus terminus is 10 mins walk with good links to Karlsruhe etc. Good info folder at reception with tram times etc. No mini bar in the room but good selection of chilled soft drinks/beer/fruit juice available at a reasonable cost from reception. Negatives? Well I have to look pretty hard to be honest and there is so much that is good about this place....but I did notice that the bed sheets were not changed every day. That's all. To summarise, staying off-peak as I did the value was exceptional and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Not the best I have been to"
I was given an apartment room adjecent to the hotel. The room was clearly not maintained. Heating did not work in any of the rooms. Toilet supplies were not refilled. Beds were very old and had a queer smell. The 14inch b/w TV set did not work at all. The only good thing about the hotel was the location. Very central and very near to the baths.

"Bikers welcome!"
I have just returned home from a motorcycle trip to Germany with eight friends, this being the second time we have used the hotel. The hotel is in a small town near to Freudenstadt just of the 28 - handy for the B500 & the Black Forest. The staff were fantastic. Friendly, polite and helpful - all could speak English. The hotel is a little dated but that just adds to the charm of the place. We each had a single room with on-suite. Clean & comfy. The kitchen was open until 2100, but you could order your food to be ready for a little after, and there was no rush to finish your meal, the bar was open for as long as we wanted to stay and chat. Both were very well priced - a three course meal for 8 including drinks throughout the evening for 35 euros each. Breakfast was cheap and we had a choice of pretty much anything you could want. Many of the locals use the restaurent for nights out. They loved chatting to us about our travels and motorbikes, I have never been made to feel so welcome. We will certainly be going back next year.
