good enough for one night in SPSPosted Mar 13, 2013
Cons: food and bathrooms
Location: good. Central.
Room and bathroom are very small. Food not good. Service is ok. You get what you pay for. This hotel needs some renovations...

MY ThoughtsPosted Jun 26, 2012
Pros: The scandinava resturant
Other than the mattress in our room I would always prefer to stay at this hotel. There was some question as to why the in room phone did not work either to the desk or other rooms but i forgot to to ask before checking out.

Great staff & balcony view...bathrooms need workPosted Jan 16, 2012
Location: Central, downtown
The staff were helpful and spoke English well, the mountain and pool view were appealing, and the balcony was appreciated (particularly for smokers). The bathroom needs to be renovated...the grout for the floor and shower tiles were stained/dirty, the shower and sink faucets have lost their finish and dripped, and the medicine cabinet was very rusty in the seams/corners.

My Favorite Place to Stay in San Pedro SulaPosted Dec 15, 2010
I nearly always stay at the old, venerable Gran Hotel Sula when travel takes me to San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Although this hotel is older than some of the modern chain hotels, it has character and retains enough of its class and comfort to remain my favorite. The location, right on the central park in the middle of the city, is perfect for those who want to experience the vibrancy of city life in SPS. (For those who only want to sleep on their way to their self contained all inclusive resorts int he islands where they will interact with other tourists and then say they have visited Honduras, there are better choices). I love the fact that the rooms all still have spacious private balconies. I prefer the ones that overlook the park (a concert took place one night on this trip and I had a perfect seat on my balcony...another night there was an amazing fireworks show, albeit loud, also clearly visible from my parkside balcony), however, there is city noise in those rooms. The poolside balcony rooms are quieter. The hotel features beautiful new television sets with around 120 channels including most US network and cable channels in english. The beds are clean, large and comfortable. The bathrooms are adequate, though they could use some upgrades. The hotel cafe (Cafe Skandia) is an old school US style cafe, with good food at reasonable prices. The pool is largem, beautiful and well maintained in a garder setting, and the bar is very pleasant. All in all a great choice for SPS!

A good choice in San Pedro SulaPosted Mar 25, 2010
Clean modern rooms well above average for Central American accomodations. Very courteous bilinigual staff led me to feel safe and welcome. The cafe and the bar were excellent. The central location is great for daytime excursions and easily available taxis at night.
