Good value in a safe area with much to do.

Our stay at the Comfort Inn in Ballston was very nice. It is very affordable for the area, and very clean. They have a free shuttle to the Metro stop, which can also be easily walked in 10 minutes. Breakfast was fine.

Good location, very pleasant staff.

Pros: Staff and shuttle service, free parking was a huge plus
Cons: If anything, I would prefer queen size beds vs. the double beds..
Hotel was clean and quiet. It is a bit dated but all in all, a nice place to stay at a reasonable price.

Very Noisy

Posted Oct 12, 2014
Pros: The staff were very pleasant and accomindating. When we complained, they were quick to change our rooms. The breakfast was good.
Cons: The hotel needs sound proofing. When we walked down the hall to our room, we heard a hum in the hall from the air conditioners.
Location: the location was very good and convenient to all the historic areas.
We were first placed in a room near a utility room. We heard the utilities all night and didn't sleep well. We requested a new room and was then placed on the 4th floor. This was also a disappointment because we heard the air conditioner all night. They need to upgrade the hotel to lessen the noise heard in the hotel.

Location: Walking distance to several restaurants
Remodeling was going on in every room but ours on our floor. Our room was very large, but could also use some updating. Returned to our room one afternoon about 4:00 to find the bed still unmade and bathroom not cleaned. Wasn't too impressed with hotel ammenities.

Very cordial; even which our lack of punctuality getting to the pickup point. Came when we called and still cordial!

Cheap (relatively) in Arlington

Posted Oct 2, 2014
Pros: Location. It's an easy hop to the Curtis Trail for an evening run.
Cons: Not much without seeing the rates jump.
Location: It's DC/Arlington. There's lots. Get a guide book if you can't figure it out.
I have stayed at the CI-Ballston numerous times. It is just a short, pleasant walk from NSF and the Metro stop. The price is reasonable and beats the stiffer rates at other nearby hotels. At present, the CI is in decent shape. It has been refurbed within the last year, so looks a lot nicer than in the past. The breakfast area is decent and if one likes the sort of stuff they provide, it's ample. There is a shuttle to/from the Metro, but it's not so convenient. The walk is nicer. The rooms are still pretty much what they have always been. They are spacious enough and have all the basics. The furnishings are worn, and spotless doesn't come to mind. Still, it's a CI. What does one expect? The AC works, the shower has hot water, and there aren't any funny odors or unwanted roommates. No doubt I'll return.

close to metro

hotel staff were friendly and very helpful when i needed a corkscrew at 1:00am; excellent breakfast selections and plenty of room for guest to enjoy their meal. They had a shuttle that made frequent runs to metro station, but actually enjoyed the short walk . Easy access to interstate.

Nice place close to metro station

Posted Sep 19, 2014
Pros: Good location near Ballston Metro station (next to which are several restaurants). Breakfast has a nice variety.
Cons: While wifi is included, it was slow, which is okay for some occasional email checking, but is difficult for certain applications.
Location: Location is near Ballston metro station. Next to the metro station are several restaurants, which is great for dinner after a day of sightseeing
A good value for its price. It's a 10-minute walk from the Ballston Metro station, from where it's a short ride to downtown DC (eg., only 15 minutes ride from the Smithsonian). I will definitely come back here.
