Vacation

Pros: Everyone was friendly and helpful. Great shuttle vehicle to get us around to the metro and airport. Nice breakfast, nice size room.
Cons: Shuttle stops at 11:00PM from airport and would have been nice/helpfull had we known this information prior to arrival.
Location: Location in Old Town nice and also only a short walk to Metro but best part is the shuttle van took us and picked us up at the metro
Arrived late in the evening and was greeted warmly. Room was quite nice with great views of the city and Patomic River. Overall everything was Excellent, from facilities to staff. The manager offered to pay for our cab fair due to the very late arrival, which was generous.

Nice hotel, free shuttle to Kennedy to catch metro

We stayed five days on vacation. Although far from amenities, the hotel offers a shuttle that makes getting into Washington easy. The hotel is nice, staff friendly and helpful. The only negative was the slow service in the restaurant, the restaurant staff were only two in the dining room so there was a wait to be served. The hotel is showing a bit of its age, but nothing major other than the noise of the heater which didn't bother us much since we were so tired at the end of the day.

Clean and comfortable

Reasonably priced for clean, comfortable room near downtown DC; hearty breakfast buffet which was not included in hotel rate but was also reasonably priced; staff were friendly and helpful and made you feel welcome. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

Nice hotel, very convenient to DC tourist attracti

Hotel is located in a nice suburb of DC. Good restaurants close by. Travelling to DC is convenient through Metro and hotel runs shuttle every 30 mins. Rooms are nice and clean. Staff is courteous. Overall A+

Nice clean hotel

Cons: We didn't get the wake-up call that we had requested. We didn't get coffee packets or new shampoo and conditioner on 2 of the days.
Liked the fact we could take the hotel shuttle to the airport to catch the metro.

Would absolutely stay at the Crown on my next visit!! Staff was more than helpful!! Room was clean and comfy. Highly recommended!!

Close to walking around Alexandria Virginia

Hotel staff very nice. Food at hotel resturant was excellent. Short walking distance to Old Town Alexandria. They had shuttle too but we walked since only 8 blocks. Shuttle to airport very convenient.

Bad Crowne Plaza, good Holiday Inn

While the decor is nice, this hotel really needs to work on a few things. Rooms: doors which are falling apart and crumpled/peeling wallpaper should be replaced; and, fix the hvac so it does not blow straight onto someone working at the desk. Service: If you say I can leave an order for breakfast on my door, pick that order up and fill it. Shuttle: Sharing the shuttle with the Holiday Inn would be OK if the shuttle were more frequent.

Careless staff and poor service

The hotel itself was fine, but front desk staff were generally rude and unhelpful. When we arrived at 10pm from the airport there were no other customers in the lobby but hotel staff didn't even bother to greet us, to say hello, or to ask how we were. This cold welcome didn't start things off on a hospitable note. When trying to figure out how to get around the neighbourhood in the morning the hotel staff were equally unhelpful. I said I needed a taxi to Dulles airport, and the reception staff told me that it would cost at least $100 and said she would phone a hotel driver for me for $75 instead. I checked later and a taxi to Dulles was actually about $65, leaving me wondering what exactly the incentives of the front desk staff were. All in all the hotel was pleasant though - it may perhaps be that we were unlucky with the staff that were on duty that day.
