“great for a long stay”

Upon check in Nasir made me feel welcome. He is very personable and a definate asset to have on the desk. The room was very nice, lots of room for storage. The bed was comfortable and the kitchenette really came in handy.

“Cool for the price”

It was nice, the breakfast is not buffet style, just grab and go.

“Decent, Friendly, Safe”

This hotel was safe, convenient with decent cleanliness and friendly, helpful staff. It does not have first class materials in linens, furnishings, trim and the like. Nor does it offer a comfortable lobby or in-house dining. However, the Homestead was exactly what we were looking for: no fuss, no muss. Cheap, easy with out being unsafe or unclean.

“Extended average stay”

The hotel was 5 miles from DCA airport which was why I chose it for my departure evening stay. They have no transportation service at all so I was essentially stranded in a fairly sequestered area. Other hotels, restaurants, and retail resources were over a mile away, a nice walk, but not great that walking or taxi were the only alternatives that would allow me to do anything other than sit in the hotel room. The front desk person was reasonably pleasant, but offered me little more than bare bones ("sorry, no shuttle", "there's a Ruby Tuesday's a mile that way" - it was actually a Ted's). Since I needed to take a taxi to the airport, I pre-arranged a pick up on line (the desk clerk had made no offers). When I left the building at 5AM, there was no one at the front desk to tell I was leaving so I just left the key and card showing my room number at the desk. All an all, an acceptable but totally average experience.

“Won't be back”

Poor customer skills at the front desk. Strong cooking smells in the hallways. Food smell in the room. Room was not very nice. Found a lot of left over hair in the shower from the previous guest. The shower obviously had not been cleaned. Made me doubt the maid service in general. Free continental breakfast was a joke. Why bother. I won't be back

“Roughing it.”

When I checked in at 2pm my room was not ready. It was by 3pm but it had no soap, shampoo or other amenities. These had to be asked for at the front desk, including an ash tray as it was a smoking room. The next day when I returned from work, there was no maid service so I had to make my own bed, wash my dishes and clean up. No new towels or coffee were offered.
