Great for an overnight stay!Posted Nov 13, 2013
Pros: Staff courtesy, location, rate.
Cons: It would've been great if they had an indoor pool.
Location: We visited the National Air and Space Museum which was about 10-15mins away - worth it! Also the plaza across the street has some good Afghan food.
We had travelled from NY to visit a friend in Sterling, and found this hotel with good reviews. Was not disappointed! The reviews on the breakfast are absolutely spot on. They had good variety and everything was prepared fresh. But what really impressed me was their service. At night my wife wanted to get some bottled water. There was none in the vending machine, so the concierge at the front desk proactively approached my wife and offered to get some bottled water from a nearby store. She even dropped it back to our room. I've never seen any other hotel staff go out of their way to take care of their customers like that. The rest of the staff was in general friendly and always asked even in passing if we needed anything. For example, when we arrived the TV in the room wasn't working. The technician not only replaced it but asked if we needed any housekeeping cleaning done as well. Also, when we arrived, our room (w/2 double beds)requested was not ready and would take another 30 mins we were told. We insisted for something sooner and within minutes they found something (w/ a king size bed) for us! Needless to say I will recommend this spot for any friend or family visiting the area.

Thank you so much for complimenting our staff! I happen to think we've got the friendliest bunch of people working here that can be gathered into one hotel! That's why the Holiday Inn Express Reston/Herndon received TripAdvisor's 2013 Certificate of Excellence Award for Superior Hospitality. Everyone on staff works hard to make sure every guest receives the very best service at a reasonable price. We're looking forward to welcoming you back in the very near future! Decent hotelPosted Oct 15, 2013
Pros: Good location
Cons: Better Mattresses
Location: Near multiple restaraunts, some grocery stores, and a couple of general merchandise stores.
Breakfast was really good. Staff was great. One small elevator for whole hotel making check out difficult since everyone was leaving at the same time. Room was really small. Matress was awfully uncomfortable. My husband was threatening to sleep on the floor!!

Nice hotel for overnight business stay.Posted Oct 14, 2013
Cons: Staff seemed a little confused. Perhaps some more training?
Location: Located centrally in small town of Herndon. It is easy to access DC via toll road, Reston and its shopping and restaurants is very nearby.
I checked in just a little after 2:00 and rooms weren't ready. Manager on Duty seemed a little flustered and not very knowledgeable about asking for a different room for me. She finally understood what Housekeeping was telling her and checked me in. Got to my room and key wouldn't work so I had to truck all the way back down to the desk. Once I got in the room, I was very pleased with the size, condition and cleanliness of the room I had everything I needed. Although check-out is 11:00 am, I was awakened at 8:00 on Sunday morning by housekeeping staff trying to enter my room. They left after I told them I would not be checking out until later. Obviously a mixup of rooms by them. Overall my stay was good. I would return and I would recommend to colleagues and friends.

I'm so sorry for the inconvenience regarding your check-in, and housekeeping's early arrival. Our staff works hard to make sure we're giving our guests the best possible service, but we do sometimes have some glitches in the system. I'll be sharing your comments with our front office and housekeeping staff at today's meeting to remind everyone about the correct procedures. We look forward to welcoming you back in the very near future. Patrick Foley General Manager

Nice affordable stayPosted Sep 16, 2013
Pros: Workout room and continental breakfast
Cons: Dusty filters
Location: 15 is horrible route to get anywhere, but area has a lot to do. O'sullivans has best Guinness steak burger and well worth price.
Great workout room and breakfast was amazing. Think furnace filter was little dusty, but otherwise great overall for the price

Stay here if you want to get some excercisePosted Sep 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
There is a slew of hotels in the area, all of which have about the same amenities. The biggest difference here is that the Holiday Inn is a block and a half from the WO&D trail and even has decent bikes for you to borrow. I think this is a great way for a hotel to set themselves apart, and I'll stay here again because of it.
