Great Hotel in the Heart of Old AlexandriaPosted Sep 12, 2014
Pros: The staff was superb. The facility was also lovely and fit nicely into the architecture of the area. My bathroom was also terrific. Shuttle to DCA!
Cons: I'm not a fan of the "high up" bed. In fact, I stubbed my toe on the little stairs twice. A little larger desk would also have been nice.
Location: There are tons of fabulous little shops and many terrific restaurants within walking distance. Also, many things to do and easy Metro access to DC.
The hotel fit in very nicely with the historic character of the district. It was traditional in the best sense of the word. The sitting room and common areas were very pleasant and the staff was uniformly excellent. The complimentary coffee in the morning and wine in the evening were also an added bonus.

The hotel was in the heart of Shops and diningPosted Sep 7, 2014
The hotel staff was not very helpful. We asked questions out first night about getting into DC and we were given almost no help and never offered any maps until I asked the next morning. I didn't like having my car stuck in the garage and only having the option to valet. When I asked if I could do it myself to avoid valet and they acted like I was moron.

A quaint and lovely hotelPosted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness, location, welcoming.
Cons: Cleaning staff was loud in the morning in the halls.
Location: Right on King street with great shopping, restaurants, entertainment.
Stayed at this gem of a hotel during a weekend trip to see my son un the area. It was quiet, quaint, welcoming and a great retreat for rest at the end of the day.

the room was very outdated.Posted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: Leaving the hotel!!!
Cons: Updated the rooms...
Location: In the city, we were disappointed in the town. The town seemed run down .
the bathroom is very outdated, old bathtub, toilet etc. I have stayed in other hotels for less money and they had updated rooms. The room was very small and cramped. The bell staff seemed rather aggressive about handling our luggage. The bed was not very comfortable. The fitness room and pool was located in another building down the street, not convenient.

An absolute luxury experiencePosted Aug 17, 2014
Morrison House, part of the Kimpton Hotel Group, is one of the best hotels I ever experienced. It's in the heart of historic Alexandria, VA. We pulled up to a driveway next to the hotel, and Jose came out, unloaded our car and brought all the bags to the room. Then he went and parked out car in an underground garage; on street parking is not available. Ashely and Mahason at the front desk were also very helpful and cheerful. The historic city is a great place to visit with lots of interesting shops and restaurants. At 5 PM we returned the Morrison House which was holding its wine hour, with wine and vegetable cheese tapas. That night we had dinner in the hotel, and it was delicious. I consider myself to be a Caesar Salad expert, and the one served ranks at the top, along with the one I make at home. We had planned to just stop on the road on the way back to New York from North Carolina, but the stay at Morrison House added one more glorious day to our vacation

Excellent locationPosted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: It's not a standard hotel - very individual design. Good location for both Alexandria itself and for visiting Washington by Metro.
Cons: Provide tea / coffee making facilities in the room. Other hotels do it.
Location: Just a few yards to the shops and restaurants of King Street. Easy walk to both the river and the metro (or take a free trolley).
Perfectly placed for exploring Old Alexandria. Attractive building. Very helpful staff. Wine reception at night and tea / coffee in the morning are nice, but would also like tea / coffee making facilities in the room for the tired traveller.

Cons: Hotel charged WAY too much for parking. There's parking garages all around and parking is pretty cheap everywhere else except at the hotel.
Had a great stay at Kimpton Hotel in Old Towne, Alexandria. Hotel was right in the middle of everything so we had easy access to everything. We didn't need our call the whole weekend because the hotel was in a great location.

Nothing about this hotel is 4 starsPosted Jun 17, 2014 on Hotels.com
I'm flabbergasted by the star rating of this hotel, which apart from the location is very average. Our room was located in the basement and was damp and musty smelling. Furnishings are what your great aunt Sally might choose for her house. Couldn't keep the blinds up because there were people walking around in the garden outside, hence no natural light. We could hear doors opening and closing, as well as the elevator while we were trying to sleep. Service also was nothing special. Not a good value for the price.

Elegant, intimate, comfortablePosted Jun 12, 2014 on Hotels.com
The staff was exemplary and the hotel was the epitome of traditional hospitality. Our first visit but it won't be our last!
