DC 3some

Pros: clean and close
Cons: Maybe all rooms should have fridge/microwave combo and COFFEE machine :-)
Location: Alexandria was nearby, the Huntington Metro station is walkable for most anyone.
I travelled with my elder parents and was concerned, mostly because the hotel was a basic hotel. I called prior to departure just to ensure I wasn't making a bad judgment call. I spoke to Debie who was WONDERFUL. She said, you're here for a long time (9 days) and she upgraded us to a room with a microwave and refrigerator. Red Roof was terrific - other than no breakfast options, and having to go to the reception area for coffee, as my mother said - nothing was missing. The staff was helpful and more importantly, the rooms were clean. If anyone has mobility issues, they have an elevator for the upper floors as well. We chose Alexandria, Virginia - and it proved to be the right choice. The hotel is on the highway but incredibly close to the Metro and provided my needs beyond clean and comfortable: free parking and free internet.

checking out washington

Pros: not fancy but comfortable
Cons: create a left turn drive-in lane - had to do a U-turn to get in
Location: 15 min drive to Washington DC
I stayed at red roof for 2 days prior to attending a jfk warren commission conference (being held at crowne plaza) and did the tourist sightseeing tour at the Arlington cemetary , Lincoln Memorial, Capitol bldg., And of vourse the White House and 2 Smithsonians.

Good hotel but not as close as the metro station

Posted Sep 21, 2014
Cons: shuttle service to Huntington metro station
The hotel is OK, the basic you need to rest after a long day. However, the walk to the metro station is a little bit far, no bus shuttle is offered to the metro station.

Simple but Sufficient

Pros: Location, price, non-smoking.
Location: Close to Metro station for access to Washington DC.
I needed a non-smoking room in the Washington DC area that was near a Metro station. I was also doing this at the last minute and did not want to spend a lot. The motel fit the bill well. It was a small room but I was alone so it worked fine for me. I was there for two nights. I also appreciated the elevator. Most motels at this rate level do not have one. If you need other extras, go somewhere else.

Not the worst place, but not the best place

Posted Sep 11, 2014
Pros: The only thing I liked about the hotel was that it was within walking distance to a testing location I was supposed to attend for a potential job.
Cons: Water pressure, ice machine, a bathroom in the lobby would be nice.
Location: The metro is about a mile away. Restaurants are on the way. 7-11 for your basic food and drink needs.
This was my second trip to D.C. and my stay here was more mediocre than I was expecting. For starters, I drove down from NYC. I wasn't expecting to check in early, but was AT LEAST expecting to be able to use a bathroom by the time I got there. Their lobby didn't have a bathroom. I didn't like that much at all. They allowed me to leave my car parked while I walked about a mile to the metro station where I could use a bathroom. Not fun. I returned from the city center after check in to get my room. The room itself was very nice, clean and well lit, however, it didn't have a fridge or a microwave. To get those, you needed to book an upgraded room. The ice machine on my floor (3rd floor) was busted so I had to go downstairs to get ice. The water pressure in the bathroom was lacking pretty bad. Comparing this hotel to others I've stayed at in the past FOR THE SAME PRICE, I got a lot less than I bargained for. This hotel was just renovated. They need to work on a little more.
