Family Reunion

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: I liked the king rm/walkin shower, breakfast buffet, location and hotel shuttle to the airport, local eateries and the Metro.
Cons: Restaurant staff customer service. Bartender was weak,I ordered 2 different drinks & neither was good. As a result I didn't seek out the bar more ofte
Location: Good recommendation of a BBQ restaurant in the Crystal City Shops/Mall that was EXCELLEMT! sorry I can't rememeber the name.
Hotel is great. The restaurant staff could use some customer service training.

Great value

Everything about this hotel is good! The only thing is the parking deck and price of parking $22 per day. The deck is terrible for any vehicle larger than compact. Spaces are way too close together

Thank you for staying at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View and for giving your feedback. While it's true that most city parking garages are on the small side, our hotel was built from the ground up and we opened in 2011. Our parking garage is one of the roomiest in the city and it is extremely unusual when we receive negative comments. Perhaps the garage was extremely full when you visited the hotel?

A good pick in Crystal City!

Posted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: I think I have already told you ... let me see.... Oh, yes, the restaurant food was very good, although I think it would be nice if they had a bit less
Cons: Change and turn down the lobby(lounge area music system)
Location: It was a bit further walk to the restaurant area and metro -but there is a van to the metro
I just came back from spending 3 nights at this hotel and I will tell you how lovely it was to have such friendly staff! It really made a difference in how I will review this hotel since there were a few things that I wasn't too thrilled with-but that is a matter of taste-etc-Like the over the top decor, and the loud lobby music(pop?) Even at 6am!? What's that about? haha But....................... as I said the staff made it a pleasant stay-and I mean all of them! The desk clerks were all excellent-the bartenders great-wait staff the same-the van fellas-nice-the valet fellas the same-even though I had flown in they were very helpful answering basic area questions-etc. The room was very clean and a calmer(better) decor. Did I mention the courtesy bikes? How fun is that! This is a very large-luxurious looking hotel and I thought this bike feature was so very special-I wish more hotels I stay in would have them! Great-save place to ride-either around the blocks or over to the bike trail(paved) near by!

Thank you for all of the wonderful comments about our hotel. I'm so glad you had a chance to take our bikes out for a spin. The trails are beautiful this time of year. I'm afraid the music is selected by the Renaissance brand. We may have to persuade you to make peace with it. Won't you come back to see us again soon?

The Hotel is brand new and everything was so clean, modern, and updated. The Hotel staff was super knowledgeable and eager to help. There is a shuttle to the nearest metro station that comes every 20 minutes give or take which made travelling super easy.

Very nice hotel

Cons: Internet connection in rooms should be free of charge.
Not much to say except excellent. Have frequent shuttle bus to Reagan airport and nearest metro station.

Wonderful hotel right next to the train tracks.

Posted Apr 22, 2014
We took the kids for spring break and really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast buffet was well-stocked with a nice variety of food. Omelets and waffles cooked to order. The hotel restaurant was very competent and we enjoyed a nice dinner there. Friendly staff, comfortable accommodations, pool and fitness facilities were fine. My only complaints are that our room faced some train tracks that had traffic all night long and despite being on the 6th floor, woke up our son at 3am on the first night. Also, there is no complimentary WiFi. It is only available for an additional fee. I'd recommend this hotel with the proviso to request a room facing away from the train tracks or very high up.

We're so glad that you chose us for your stay and are delighted that you enjoyed the breakfast buffet in our restaurant. I apologize the room was not to your liking and we will be happy to reserve a room on the opposite side of the hotel for your next stay. Thank you for the wonderful comments. We appreciate your feedback.

A Bit of Luxury / Easy Commute into DC

Posted Apr 20, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness, happy hour, restaurant, terrace lounge, comfy beds (we all thought so and we are picky!)
Cons: more lounge chairs around pool
Location: easy metro commute, all DC, Arlington, Old Town Alexandria sites are less than 10-15 min drive
My family (2 children under 10 and husband) just got back from our stay at the Renaissance. It was a very nice hotel, with excellent shuttle service (every 20 min) to and from the metro. Crystal City (the metro stop we were on) was very convenient to all DC locations. Everything is very close and convenient. The only minus for us was that the pool was a little small...kids were disappointed at first, but by the end of our stay it really didn't matter. Happy hour in the restaurant area is well worth it - great for grown ups to relax and kids to have a snack before a dinner out. Overall we were very happy (we even won a promotion right off where the kids selected easter eggs with prizes inside - we got free parking and internet which made this an excellent deal!!)

Airport shuttle not available until 5:00 am

Posted Mar 31, 2014
If you are planning to catch an early morning flight - you'll need a taxi. The shuttle does not start until 5am. Also - buyer beware. My happy hour Grey Goose dirty martini was $14.40. Not included or discounted during the advertised happy hour and not communicated to me upon ordering. Otherwise, a great place to stay. I would return!
