Christmas Eve stay

Location: Location OK, near many restaurants.
Given the original price of the room, I expected a really nice, probably new, Super 8. But I've stayed in better Motel 6's. Big tear in carpet, curtain clips missing so curtain drooped, baseboard around wall near tub coming off, took forever for hot water to come through, little refrigerator not as cold as it should have been even on coldest setting. The lady who checked me in was very nice and friendly. When I discovered only 1 channel was showing up on the TV, she immediately came down to my room to find out what was wrong. She saw immediately and fixed it on the spot. TV cable was the best I've seen in recent years at any motel I've stayed at, including Hilton's; lots of channels.

Discusting, dirty, yuck!!

I usually don't leave bad reviews. But if I can help someone else who doesn't know the area, here goes. The room reeked like smoke (although non smoking), bedding made me wonder if I was in a jail holding cell, bathroom towels stained and crusty, I stepped on something, not even sure what is was.. Cross between red jello substance w crushed kidney beans?!! Ewww!!! And a random nasty sweater behind the chair.. The a/c, heater unit rattled loud. No sleep!! Not comfortable at all!! I felt dirty staying here!! And thank god I didn't bring my kids w me bc I would have left!! Oooh to top off, when I went to see what the breakfast was, it was cleaned up by 8:50, and all 4 big coffee containers empty, front desk clerk was ASLEEP in his chair at the front desk!! Lol Yea.. It was that bad!! Pay the few more dollars and drive 5 min to Hilton garden down the street!!!! You will be very happy w that advise:))

Pleasently Surprised

Surpassed my expectations. Staff was friendly and willing to help even to the point of volunteering to make fresh coffee for me. Room was clean and the veiw was directly into the forest which was very calming and pretty.

Pros: Location; room was comfortable.
Cons: Staff weren't outright unfriendly but could work on customer service skills.
Overall not a bad experience. Close to the university and other attractions in/around Valparaiso.

Staff is friendly. Hotel is clean and convenient for what we were doing. There is no elevator at this location so if you have a heavy bag it is a pain to get up the stairs. The shower has the worst water pressure of any hotel we have stayed at over the past year. Also, while the website stated they were "pet" friendly, there was actually a sign on the entrance door that stated they did NOT allow pets. We weren't traveling with any pets this time but I would be very upset had we been. Breakfast is VERY basic, cold cereal, "frozen" waffles that have been thawed, toast, limited fruit (apple or orange). They do have a nice indoor pool.
