Overall nice hotel, little things not perfect

Posted May 3, 2015
Room and hotel very nice, clean and close to town centre however few little things not quite right. When we arrived in the room it had two single beds (we had ordered a king sized) housekeeping were very apologetic and more than happy to attach the two beds to each other, but this still wasn't as comfortable as a proper king sized bed as the join in the middle could be felt. Housekeeping said all beds in the hotel are like this. Also strange shaped very hard pillow - seemed more like sofa cushions as were square and foamy, meant there was a huge gap in the middle of the bed, found another square pillow in the cupboard to put in the middle but this one was very soft, every time I rolled into the middle my sleep was disturbed. When we arrived back to the room around 1.30am we decided to get room service - two sandwiches and fries. As the phone did not work my partner had to go downstairs and order the food, which we then waited more than an hour for and was stone cold by the time it arrived: the only plus side was I was only charged for one sandwich and recieved two! However had I been charged full price I would probably have sent it back. Also hotel parking is £15 overnight which isn't mentioned when booking hotel however car park is secure and closed with shutters. Overall not a bad stay but not a particularly good one either.

Cheek in was okay part from that you have to put 25 pound deposit down some thing the Web site don't tell you most the staff wasn't English but don't get me wrong they were nice. Room was great apart from that the king size bed was two singles with there mattress on then a king size mattress put on top but was very comfy the other thing is the air con was useless but every thing else was bang on

Nice, clean quiet stay.

The room was clean and staff very helpful. A small tesco's over the road. Good position for city centre with a choice of car parks close by.

appalling place. 1960's unmodernised

Posted Apr 11, 2015
Pros: nothing
Cons: insulation, double glazing. Staff training
Our room was hugely noisy. It was like sleeping in the central reservation of the M 1. Utter rubbish. Very rude receptionist. never going back there no matter what

Ok, close to town for a night out

Posted Apr 7, 2015
If you're wanting to go into the city for a shopping weekend/ night out then it is ideal and close to everything. We were told on the website it had parking facilities, we couldn't find a car park? No signs if there was one. Bed was comfy but the room was cramped, bathroom window had mould growing on it. It was basic like a travelodge, not a 4 star hotel or worth the money we paid. I've stayed in better basic 2 star hotels.

Bed and pillows

Posted Apr 1, 2015
Restaurant not open on Sunday! Pillows on the bed poor and oddly shaped compromised good nights sleep bed very bouncy. To give credit to staff responded quickly to requests for missing tea coffee etc staff all polite and helpful room clean. Would not choose to stay again unless I had to be in the centre of Nottingham.

Close proximity to town centre

Posted Mar 24, 2015
Pros: good proximity to the town centre.
Cons: general cleanliness and upkeep of the rooms need a big improvement.
10 minutes prior to arrival i called the hotel reception to inquire about the location of the car park. They told us where the car park was and that we could park our car there for the duration of our stay. After we parked we took all our our luggage to the hotel reception to check-in, at which point we were told that the car park was actually booked up and that we would have to move our car to a different car park on a completely different road which had no affiliation with the hotel. We asked how the car park could be 'booked up' as it was 90% empty when we parked and why the staff told us to park there if they knew it was booked up already. Whilst checking-in we were charged £25 per night for the mini fridge - something which was never stated on the expedia website, and despite us stating that we were categorically not going to use the mini fridge, we were told that we would not be able to stay at the hotel without paying for this charge at the check-in. Upon arriving in the hotel room we noticed that the general cleanliness of the room was extremely disappointing. The lights were visibly dusty, particularly the spotlights directly above the bed, making this very unpleasant to look at whilst lying in bed. The shower leaked whilst being in use everytime, depsite us being very cautious and the pipe which allows the water in the bathroom sink basin to drain was disconnected. We also found a (very old) sock on the floor which did not belong to myself or my guest.

Too much valuable time wasted on checking in!

Posted Mar 24, 2015
Pros: The room was lovely , no problems there.
Cons: Checking in and paying for breakfast, which could have been pre arranged as requested
Location: fab location
Problems with breakfast package added to our booking later! Hotel would not accept the breakfast booking prior to our arrival and therefore I had to pay for each room (8 double rooms booked under my name for a special birthday gathering) Card had to be processed 8 times tut tut ridiculous and the package included wine & chocs in your room which did not arrive till much much later in the evening, too late to enjoy. And I had to complain twice to receive them :( All our party were disappointed with this but the breakfast was really good and had plenty of choice.

Pros: Location
Cons: To be given a twin room if you have requested one. Breakfast to be cooked less!
Location: Albert Hall, Nottingham Playhouse, shops
Our stay was OK. Great location for our needs. Disappointing that even though it was a no-smoking room, the previous guest had been smoking in the bathroom - as it stank! Not the hotel's fault though. I had requested a twin room for my daughter and I, but as this could not be guaranteed, we were given a double and no chance to change it unfortunately.
