Pleasant and clean hotel near convenient shoppingPosted Mar 4, 2014
Pros: Staff, kitchenette
Cons: Bathroom could use some paint/repair around the tub
Location: Convenient to small and large shopping. Just a few blocks to the beach.
The room was not fancy but was adequate. Not noisy. Had convenient fridge and sink and available parking (for a daily fee). It was clean though there was rust around the tub. Just needed some fresh rust stop and paint. Hotel staff were efficient and pleasant. Good stay for the price, especially since it is right in downtown Honolulu so it's easy to get to where you need to go.

Great staff, old hotelPosted Mar 2, 2014
We stayed for 5 days and really enjoyed our stay. Though It was over priced for the condition of the hotel. Needs updating. Also at $100++ a night, we expected some sort of breakfast in the morning but we're disappointed that there was nothing offered. Also had to ask for a coffee pot, no stove in room. We had a great view on both sides of our room. Staff was very friendly. Loved the security, had to use a key card to even get in the elevator. Great location, just a short walk to the beach. Also has Whalers store just outside the hotel-they also had a very friendly staff and excellent sushi!!! Coffee shop next to hotel as well, good coffee but way over priced

Ok for. 1 night found it to be noisyPosted Mar 2, 2014
Cons: Would have liked tea and coffee making facilities in the room
Location: It was about a 15 minute walk to the main centre
We arrived at 11.30pm found the service at the desk to be ok but was disappointed that there was no tea or coffee in the room.

Not ImpressedPosted Mar 1, 2014
Pros: The Front Desk Manager Sean and his staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful.
Cons: Everthing. The hotel needs a total upgrade. Decore is very outdated. Our shower trickled, and the towels were smaller than average size.
Location: Location was close to shopping, bars, restaurants, beaches, gardens, hotels, and transportation.
The Ambassador Hotel is in a great location within easy walking distance to bars, restaurants, beaches, transportation and shopping precincts. It's staff are excellent, but that's it. The hotel itself is very outdated, furniture in the lobby was dirty, stained and torn. And everything is expensive compared to Australian dollar prices. Tax is added to everything, and converting dollar for dollar value food and beverages are high. And if you intend to eat healthy, then you may have a problem finding good food unless you really like KFC, Burger King, McDonalds, IHop etc. A great place for value, excellent food (cooked to order) and family friendly was The Cheesecake Factory in Wakiki, but there is usually a long wait period. Local buses are cheap and can get you everywhere, but they get really crowded. Shuttle buses seem to offer competitive pricing for tours. Beware of taxis drivers. Always check what the price of your trip will be before committing. Renting a car is a cheaper option if you intend to visit several attractions during your stay. Allow plenty of time for commuting, they experience much the same traffic congestion during peak hour that we do here in most major Australian cities. We also found that the "Hawai'in spirit" is pretty much non-existent these days except in those people who work really hard to earn their tips in the bars and restaurants. They also have a big problem with 'street people' and crime.

Hotel was ok for the price paidPosted Feb 25, 2014
Pros: In a good location to get around
Cons: Update the old section of hotel
We stayed at this hotel twice. The first time was great but the second time we were in the older section and it needs to be updated or remodeled.
