“Friendly Staff”

The staff at the Lotus at Diamond Head were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was comfortable and clean. My only complaint is that it is located at the end of "the strip" of Waikiki so it is a little bit of a walk to Waikiki and any sort of food.

“Was Ideal for what I wanted first time to Oahu,”

This place was perfect all the way around for what I wanted to do In Oahu. Staff was great, parking was great, away from downtown. The short walks to food or shopping the perfect end to any day / eve. Very quite and relaxing and for anything else, you walk or drive.

Area recommendations
I could no say. I had no issues with the waikiki / Diamond head area. It was great for me.
Getting around
Get a rental vehicle and do what you want when you want. With a gps it does not take long to get familiar with the area. Just have the physical address of the places you plan to check out.

“Definitely go back again”

The hotel was beautiful, the service excellent, the view spectacular, and the location very convenient.

Area recommendations
The countryside in Oahu....yes, there is the city and the country. Old Hawaii is in Honolulu too. You experience the cultural diversity unique to Hawaii in Oahu. I visited all the islands. Oahu is the best by far. The other islands are for tourist.
Shopping
Ala Moana has changed 1005. WOW!!!
Dining
Local food is the best and inexpensive. Gulock's Deli in Kalihi. Japanese Okasuya. It is a disappearing dinning experience. The best was Honda Delicatessen in Liliha. It closed when the owners retired. Get it now before it is too late. Of course, Zippy's is the classic. Zippac for the beach.

“Nice hotel, but no amenities at all”

The good: Great location away from the Waikiki tourist nightmare, but still close enough to walk down there Next to Diamond Head and across from the park Very clean rooms and nice staff The bad: No free wifi. Come on guys, this is ridiculous. When you do pay for it, it's super slow! Old 19" tube tv's in the room. Again, I thought this is 2011, not 1991 No other amenities such as pool, hot tub, etc. I would stay here again since I can use a guess pass at the Outrigger Club next door for all the conveniences, but the Wifi and TV really do suck

Area recommendations
If you have to stay in Waikiki, staying in Diamond Head is much better. If you have more flexibility, go to north shore and avoid the tourist traps.

“Diamond Head Hotel”

Excellent location if you are looking for easy access to Waikiki but do not want all the action of Waikiki right outside your hotel room (noise and crowds)! Hotel is located in a quite area with great views of Diamond Head, easy beach access and near other sites like the Zoo and aquarium. The hotel staff is very helpful and eager to meet your needs and requests. The only down fall to this property is the lack of any restaurant in the hotel and limited restaurants in the nearby area. If you are going to dine out in the Waikiki area this is not an issue. But if you want to relax and have a slow paced meal on property this is not an option right now. Hotel management expects to have a restaurant opened some time after the first of the year (2012). All in all a good property that I would use again!

“Ok I guess”

The elevator was down two days we were there. Had to haul everything up 9 flights of stairs. Was not told when it would be fixed. Came home from a wonderful day at town and stood there waiting for elevator. The night clerk looked at us and said wow too bad you are on the 9th floor. Housekeeping? The first few days were awesome. The last few days, not so much. No coffee, sugar, creamer and CLEAN SHEETS. We took the dirty sheets off the bed, and they were put right back on. Not sure if we will be back. It will take some thought to go back there and we are planning a trip in a month.

“Try another hotel”

First, there is no restaurant on site or a lounge. So the hotel loses money when guests have to go off site. The only hotel that does not have a restaurant is Motel 6. I can see why the W pulled out. No pull and the location isn't exactly ocean side. I had to get a room switch the second night. My room was located on a busy road and was awoken to garbage trucks and loud traffic. The towels in my room had holes in them and were torn. Could not get the radio to play my Ipod. Stange cause it works in every other hotel. I wouldn't stay there again. Try some other hotel.

Comment from the hotel's management
Thank you very much for your comments and for staying at The Lotus at Diamond Head Hotel. Yes, I apologize that the restaurant in awaiting the final renovation plans at this time. The Hau Tree Lanai next door does offer breakfast, lunch and dinner and it's location is actually closer to our hotel than a lot of three meal restaurants in larger resort properties. Actually, I think you will find that a high percentage of smaller boutique properties such as ours do not have their own restaurant on site. As for a pool, the beach is a minute away in walking distance, leads to a private type beach and we offer all beach accessories on a complimentary basis. The room that you originally had is much more desirable since it is not facing a building and you are facing the majestic Diamond Head Crater. All rooms face the ocean in the exact same direction. I apologize for the towels, that is unacceptable, I do hope you reported it so our staff could rectify the deficiency immediately. As for the Ipod issue, you are most definitely correct, it is strange since it works in every other room in the hotel. Aloha and Mahalo for your patronage.

“"Away from the madding crowd"”

A very zen like boutique hotel with friendly and helpful staff. It is located far enough from Waikiki to be peaceful and enjoyable with a lovely beach steps away. Close enough to walk to Waikiki with good walking shoes. Not the newest hotel but everything was clean and functional. Views of Diamond Head and some ocean view from the lanai. Two exceptional restaurants located in neighbouring properties.
