“The business end of Honolulu”
Aston at the Executive Center is in the middle of downtown Honolulu, a place where our cab driver warned us there was 'nothing', and that certainly seemed to be the case. However, for an overnight stop en route to the airport and a long flight home, it was a great location. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and even include some cable channels so that we were able to watch Monday Night Football without finding a sports bar. If you can, book a room on the 40th floor. That's the top of the tower and has great views all around Honolulu (and for no additional charge).
“Suited for business travellers, 1st room had problems”
This hotel is located in the business district, a long way from Waikiki and tourist activities, so only go consider this hotel if you are on a business trip. The ocean-view room looks on the commercial marina, not the beach area. Not close to restaurants or shopping. We arrived on the Sunday before Labor Day and restaurants and stores close to the hotel were closed on Sunday and also on the Monday holiday. Our first room was on the 31st floor, and it had problems. It had a wooden floor and older furniture; it was nice but not special. The TV did not work and the cabled internet (no wifi) worked for about 15 minutes and then never again. After complaining about the problems, the staff was very apologetic. We were moved to a room on 37th floor that was much nicer (carpeted, better furniture, working TV and Internet). Since we weren't in town on business, this was not the right place for us. We were stuck there for the first night, and moved to a hotel near Wikiki for the other two nights we were on Oahu. This would be a good hotel if you were in town for business and wanted to be downtown, but this is not where tourists will want to stay.
“GREAT HONOLULU HOTEL”
I live on the island of Maui in Hawaii. My husband was at a hospital in Honolulu and I stayed at the Aston. The hotel was so nice that we will definately stay there on our next interisland trip.
“Great hotel”
Hotel is great, staff very friendly ,view is awesome rooms are very large and clean. I stay here every time i go to Oahu .
“Okay, but needs some work.”
The hotel is showing its age and needs some upgrades. The first room I was given had such a strong smell of mildew and mold that I had to ask for another. The second room was better. If the hotel had been full, I don't know where I would have been able to stay -- since I could not have stayed the night in the first room and there are no other hotels in the Honolulu downtown area. My second room was much better. The staff is very accommodating and rooms are sparkling clean.
“Good for Honolulu Business Travel”
My visit to the Astin was very good. The hotel rooms need a little updating, but overall were clean and comfortable. For business travel in Honolulu, it was a great location. Easy to get to downtown businesses. Only real negative was no fitness room on site. Did have food delivered from the downstairs restaurant one night and it was very good and the service was awesome!
“price is not commensurate to the quality of hotel and its service”
for the price that we paid, we certainly didn't get the best of what we paid for; we could have gotten a better deal with other hotels in the area; the receptionist in the morning was curt and disinterested, was not warm and friendly;
“Great!”
No Complaints.
“better than expectation”
I arrive in the morning and the front desk arranged an early check-in for me. The room is clean and overall service is good. At this location, it is beyond at my expectation!
“Honolulu trip 09”
I recently took my father to Honolulu....He's been retired for 10 years now and he wanted to get away for a week....He wanted to go to Europe but everyone I knew who had gone in the last 10 years said Europe was OK at best....After reading the reviews about Aston at the Executive I thought I would try it out.....It did not disappoint....The room we got on the 40th floor was right next to the breakfast room where they serve an excellent breakfast each morning....My Dad didn't even have to take an elevator ride....He told me on the plane ride home one of the best parts about that hotel was having a danish and coffee each morning and watching the planes take off in the distance..The room had 2 pillow top beds that were practically new and comfortable...The room has over 75 channels of TV to choose from and 2 TVS (20" Tube Sets)...It had a kitchenette area we didn't use at all but was very clean...There was not a single bug, hair, smell, odor, or stink of any kind in our room...When we got there I actually stood by the air vent and breathed in for a few minutes to see if I could pick up any odors and there were none...Parking was in-expensive...about 50% less than the other hotels in Honolulu wanted...The Longs Drugs on the first floor was very convenient especially one morning when I really needed some clothes.....The water pressure in the shower in our room was very adequate...
