Pros: Proximity to the beach. Step out of the back gate and you are on the beach. Proximity to shopping and dining.
Cons: Rooms could use a double pane windows... seriously! It's a bit noisy from the street.

Right on the beach, very nice.Posted Jan 20, 2014
Pros: Isaac at the front desk was nice, friendly and helpful.
Cons: Swimming pool, we thought it was included with Outrigger Reef when we booked.
Location: Everything was handy and location was perfect for Waikiki.
Good but disappointed we could not use the pool next door.

great placePosted Jan 14, 2014
Pros: Clean. Staff was great. Location was perfect.
Cons: Pillows! In this day, thin foam pillows just don't cut it with me. Twin beds were a little small but for 2 wanting separate beds, this worked.
Location: Perfect. Quiet, walking distance (and I am not fit!) to everything we wanted. Right on the beach - not across the street but right on the beach.
One of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed at. Had a studio twin bedded room, with kitchen and lovely lanai. Overlooked the park and the ocean. So quiet and restful compared to other places I have stayed in Honolulu. Front desk staff were all pleasant and helpful. We had stopped at the bigger hotel next door for directions and were given a run around to 4 different people - at the Castle, the staff answered our question, printed directions, called cabs - immediately. Professionals all the way. Kitchen was fully equipped. No restaurant but lots to choose from in the area. had breakfasts at Denny's every morning, reasonable and consistent. Easy walk to Ala Moana shopping centre - the front desk gave us a card for discounts at the grocery store. Also easy walk to the main street and to busier part of Waikiki. But loved the calm and quiet of the area. Park next door was soothing. Lanai was large enough to enjoy the sunsets and other times too.

Great hotel on the beachPosted Jan 13, 2014
Great room, with a fantastic view of the beach from the balcony. The facilities were excellent and everything you could possibly want was provided. The only thing would change was the beds were a little firm.

Comfortable hotel in a great locationPosted Jan 3, 2014
Pros: position, presentation and size of living area in the apartment.
Cons: Moving main bed to access from both sides. Closing off second bedroom area
Location: Direct access to the beach, easy walk to main road for shops, resturants, also walkable to Ala Moana shopping mall as well but bus stops at the door.
Light and spacious apartment style room with amble accomodation for a young family. Great size bathroom with laundry facilities a definite plus. Good kitchen as well. Main bed was small by hotel standards and was crammed up against a wall in a small room made it awkward for one partner. The concertina door to divide the living area from from "second " bedroom didn't go all the way across so made privacy and noise were an issue. The staff were accomodating and pleasant. The hotel is in a fantastic position on the beach with pleasant views over the park. It is very close to the main road - resturants, shops etc without being right in the choas.

Nice PlacePosted Jan 2, 2014 on Hotels.com
Really have no qualms with the hotel other than signage to let you know where they are and to direct you where to park. Isaac, the front desk attendant, was great. Room was nice, location is good. We did not like Waikiki Beach however, it was too busy for us, reminded us of Vegas a little. If that's your thing this hotel is a nice stay though.

Loved this location!Posted Dec 22, 2013
Pros: The view from our balcony was absolutely stunning, the kitchenette was perfect to allow us to make a lot of meals, washer and dryer were a bonus.
Cons: This is an old hotel, it is not fancy by any means, old shower and bathroom, not luxury but very adequate and reasonably priced.
Location: There is a BBQ pit right next to the hotel as well, you can pick up charcoal at a Foodland or other store to have a beach BBQ with an amazing view.
We really liked this area of Waikiki beach, another traveller had suggested bringing rock socks as the ocean floor in this area was rocky in places - great advice. We also went and purchased an umbrella to save the rental costs which are steep. If you're going to spend a lot of time on the Waikiki beach I would highly suggest purchasing an umbrella, we bought ours at Costco but I believe the ABC stores sell them as well. Be sure to bring your own spices and a small amount of cooking oil. Starbucks is right next door at the Outrigger Reef with a walkway between the two hotels. The War Museum is next door as well and great shopping close by.

Great Position to all the places a tourist wantsPosted Dec 20, 2013
Pros: Location, the staff and cleanness.
Cons: The sofa bed inner springs were worn and not comfortable
Location: Beach at back landing, 10min to waikiki beach, 15-20 min walk to waikiki shopping centre, only 15-20mins to Ala Moana Shops, War Museum free next door
The main thing we look for is position and Waikiki Shores had it. Beach at the back landing and a 15-20 min walk to almost everything you want to see or do. Secondly the staff were great, very friendly and accommodating. The building and rooms are a bit old but then are you spending you holiday inside or out. They were good for want we wanted and expected. Daily housekeeping kept them clean and tidy. If the housekeeping came too early they just went to other rooms and came back to ours when we were gone, no problems. Had secure parking for our rental car, good value when weighed up with room cost. The Friday night night fireworks at Hilton, we had a fantastic view from 14th floor looking directly at where they launched them. We would definitely stay here when we return. Thanks for a great holiday.
