5年前よりレベル低下?

Posted Mar 26, 2015

Nice close to the beach, away from the hustle

Posted Mar 25, 2015
Not enough free activities to use ie no pool toys or activites. You had to pay for everything. Basically lying around a pool. You pay 30 per day for using their towels & lounge chairs. Very expensive when you get there

Close to the Convention Center

Posted Mar 25, 2015
Pros: The Mai Tai Happy Hour. Close the Convention Center for the International Car show. Very comfortable bed. Had a very cold refrigerator. Large room.
Cons: Make resort fee optional. Make it so the doors don't slam shut. Went to restaurant on site for Happy Hour and they said only during football season!
Location: It is a short mile and a half to Waikiki. Lots to do. Close to Tony Roma's, Convention Center, Mall.
It was a nice change of pace for us. It may be a little pricy, but you are away from the hustle and bustle of downtown touristy places in Waikiki. Nice quiet beach, Hilton rentals are a little pricy for chairs and umbrellas. You can get them cheaper at the next beach heading towards Waikiki. Room was quite large, had a hide-a-bed, and a view of the ocean, even though we paid for resort view. Construction happening outside from 9am-5pm, so not much of an issue. The $30 a day resort fee was surprising and disappointing. Tried to decline it but was told can't. Basically gets you towels, free wifi, gym and unlimited Red Box Rentals. Very busy place, with lots to do.

Fantastic village, great location, dated rooms

Posted Mar 25, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Rooms in the Tapas tower could use refreshing.
Location: Restaurants, beaches
My parents and I stayed at the Tapas tower last week for 3 nights. The best part and undoubtedly why you should book here is the convenient access to the beach. They provide towels for free to hotel guests so going down to the ocean for a swim is super easy and hassle free (e.g., no sitting in the car all salty). Tons of restaurants and shops around. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was decent but nothing to write home about. You can definitely tell that the building has aged a bit. I did not go into the other towers so I'm not sure how the rooms are in the pricier rooms. There were also tons of people, but this isn't peak season so I can't imagine what the area would be like then. This is NOT downtown Waikiki, so you won't be able to come down and walk the "strip". I believe the hotel has shuttles to downtown. We didn't take any because we rented our own car. Overall, this was a very comfortable stay. Parking fee is a bit more expensive than the Hawaii Prince. And they charge a resort fee which made me a bit salty pre-ocean.

Crowded Resort

Posted Mar 25, 2015
Pros: Location is ok. Can walk down the beach or through the park to the main areas of Waikiki. Hotel gym was decent.
Cons: They would need to start from scratch.
Hilton Hawaiian Village is a massive operation and an impressive operation. But there is nothing charming about it. There are currently 7 towers with an 8th under construction. However, the infrastructure to support this many guests is lacking. Small pools with crowded pool decks and the restaurants are always crowded with lines for everything. The rooms are very basic--nothing special. If you have the money, pay more and get a better experience. If you don't have the money and Hilton is your only option, just plan on getting out of the village and spending time elsewhere.

Within walking distance

Souvenir shops close by, eateries both high end to burgers and sweet treats. I will never forget the many ABC stores those were the most fun. My nephew enjoyed the lagoon and ocean.
