Living in a postcardPosted Dec 4, 2013
Pros: I loved the beauty, the many acres of lush greenery and flowers, ornamental pools, bronze statuary. Rooms first rate, staff friendly, eager to please.
Cons: Some maintenance required, e.g. paint on the railing on our lanai was badly in need of repair or repaintng (Diamond Head Tower).
Location: The hotel is in an ideal location in the west end of Waikiki. Many fine restaurants are nearby, also transit service, DeRussey Park.
The hotel was all we expected and more. The lush tropical setting, the four pools, numerous restaurants and bars, the ocean and lagoon, the curving slate walkways, the accommodation itself were all first rate. The only complaint was the temporary lobby for receiving and checking in guests. Renovations are underway and I'm sure the reception area will be beautiful when it is finished but at present the lobby is like a zoo. The area is very congested. Many people are in a long line-up waiting to check in, others are milling about, not sure what to do next. There is nowhere for weary travellers to sit. Staff members are doing their best to assist.

Great Hotel. Everything is on grounds or close byPosted Dec 4, 2013
I took my 6 year old son to this hotel for 5 days. I have stayed here before and will always stay here when in Honolulu. The hotel staff and amenities are top notch. Restaraunts and shopping are on grounds or close by. Hotel is away from the rat race of Waikiki. Beach is clean. the hotel's 3 pools are awesome!

As it's title states, it is a village!Posted Dec 3, 2013
Pros: Rooms were clean and comfortable.
Cons: Main Lobby, pools.
Location: Huge mall nearby and designer store area within a 20 minute walk. All attractions are a taxi ride away or you have to book a guided tour or rent a car
Spent 6 nights in this hotel. Not the Hawaiian vacation we imagined. The hotel consisted of around 7 buildings with over 3000 rooms. Since we had children, we picked this hotel for the swimming pools and beach access. Unfortunately, the pools are basically in the shade of the surrounding hotel buildings allowing for limited sunning. Both pools and beach are extremely crowded. The hotel has designer stores, multiple Starbucks and various restaurants, so basically it's your own village. For me, there was no tropical, Hawaiian feel. Hotel lobby was under construction (not told this) causing confusion and crowding. The staff seem to favor the Japanese population, which is about 70%. The penguins mentioned are only 3 very sad looking creatures that are let out a couple of times a day. Hotel room was clean and comfortable. Overall, my children we very disappointed with this hotel and I didn't get the experience I was expecting in Hawaii.

Pros: The hotel is very central...close to everything and they have everything you need on the property.
Cons: The rooms are great, very clean and everything nice except the beds, although they are comfortable they are too short and we are not tall people!
Location: They have everything in the village...if you do not want to go anywhere you do not have too at all.

Nice hotel right on the beachPosted Dec 1, 2013
The hotel is located within a "village" of other hilton hotels and stores. It's right on the beach and everything is accessible. It's very clean and hotel staff were very helpful. Will definitely stay here again.
