Great if you like resorts away from HonoluluPosted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: Clean, modern rooms, friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Get a Dole Whip machine. How hard would that be? Improve the snack food availability at the resort.
Nice place, friendly staff. Parking is pricey ($35 /day). Pools are smaller than several resorts in Mexico in the Mayan Riviera we visited, and seem more closed in with vegetation and rock formations. Food is typically high for Hawaii. The place needs a Dole whip machine, but the near by Disney resort has one a short walk away (and its crowded so you won't want to stay there). The beach and lagoon are calm clean water; but there's no where to run or walk for even a mile on a sandy beach.

Fantastic Grounds, Nice Beach Area, Awful RoomsPosted Jan 7, 2015
We stayed for 8 days over New Years. I booked on Expedia a bit in advance and bought the "ocean view" room for $500 a night. We checked in and got a 4th floor, tiny room, with views of the pool and palm trees. The lanai was so small that we didn't spend one second on it for the entire time. We did ask to move and got an 8th floor room a few days in, which changed the view dramatically. Still, we were in the back tower and were a few hundred yards from the ocean. We've traveled all over the world and I paid as much to stay in an over water bungalow in Bora Bora and The Maldives. This did not meet my expectations. The grounds, pools, lagoon areas are all very nice though. We didn't spend much time in our rooms. I didn't care too much for Oahu compared to Maui or Kauai either. But that's not the Marriot's fault. I would just expect more out of our room itself. I know it was the holidays, so take that for what it's worth.

Fantastic facilities; low on food optionsPosted Jan 4, 2015
Beautiful lagoons and supportive, friendly staff. Although you have the option to cook in your room (the on-the-ground's gas grill with BBQ food purchases in the marketplace is a must!), the restaurant options (i.e., fare, style, price) are extremely limited.
