Beautiful historic hotel in a great lication

We have stayed at the Surfrider many times. It is always lovely to come back but the rooms in the Banyan Wing are looking increasingly tired and the bathrooms are very small. A degree of renovation is needed but overall a great place to stay!

A week in January

Posted Jan 29, 2015
Pros: Location, concierge, hotel staff.
Cons: Consistency in housekeeping and checking facilities.
Location: Private beach, bar, center of the Waikiki strip.
Second time staying at this hotel. Was here for a week mid January 2015 and this time was not as good as the first time. Staff was excellent and friendly however the issue was with consistency in the room. The room was clean but daily housekeeping was inconsistent. One day we did not get new towels. The bottles of water was random, some days 2 some days 1, some days none. Also when we arrived the safe was not working (it was fixed by day 2; turns out the batteries were so old the battery acid was crusted on the inside) and also the telephone was not working for the duration of the week and was not fixed. I still had to pay the full $30/day hotel fee despite not having full access to amenities.

ビーチパラソル、50ドル払うのはあり得ない。二度と泊まることはないと思う。ロイヤルハワイアン は良かった。

Enchanting

My wife and I aspired to stay at the Moana Surfrider for several years and finally vacationed there in January 2015. It’s a wonderful way to experience Honolulu and Waikiki. The Surfrider is very old world, old school and old-fashioned, with a great history that is chronicled in the hotel museum on the second floor. We met fellow travelers while rocking in chairs on the front veranda, enjoyed the piano man in the lobby, the Banyan Bar and the entertainment there. The staff is first class, the grounds are flawlessly manicured and the view of the ocean from the Diamond Wing is spectacular. The waters of Waikiki are less than a minute away from the hotel’s back veranda. So much more to tell. Suffice it to say that the Moana Surfrider is our hotel of choice in Hawaii.

Not what it used to be

Posted Jan 27, 2015
Hotel itself is still lovely & location is prime sitting on the beach and in the middle of the main strip of shopping & restaurants. Outside of the outdoor bar servers, service was a complete let down. Although not a gold member, I am a spg member & have never experienced such poor service at a spg hotel. Possibly this is because we booked via an Expedia package. First of all, we had requested a king room, which upon arrival, we were told that the hotel was sold out so we were given the two dbl beds instead. Then when we asked them to double check, they said they did have a king premier but it would be at an additional rate of $120+ per night. I guess they were not sold out and just didn't want to upgrade us. We went ahead and took the doubles since we had already upgraded to partial ocean view. The tower we were in was even more worn down than my previous visit a cpl yrs ago. The hallways smelled like b.o., luckily the smell in the room was much more faint. The beds were a nightmare to sleep on--I woke up with upper back/shoulder pains daily. The bathroom was dingy, mold in the crevices of the bathtub fixtures & along the floors. We paid for an afternoon umbrella only to be rained out. When we went the next day, they said that they wouldn't honor a rain check since we went back out. Note: we left after first 10 min because of rain. Then went back again when the rain stopped only to be rained out within 20 min of being there the 2nd try. I could go on, but you get it..

Great hotel on the beach close to all facilities

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: Staff and beautiful building and location
Cons: Room very noisy from street noise
Location: Close to everything. Supermarket around the corner
Hi we have just returned from a 9 night stay at the Hotel. We had a great say. We were not happy with our room - outlook a wall and small after we asked to be moved they did their utmost to assist. The room we were given was bigger with a balcony - street view - only issue very very noisy. They did offer a sea view room but it cost an extra $1000 a bit out of our price range. Overall abeautiful plzce to stay- staff excellent.

歴史あるホテルだけど

バスタブなし、シャワーのみとは思ってなかったのでちょっと残念でした。 バケーション料金で一泊あたり31ドルとられたのは納得いかない
