“convenient hotel”
We were surprised to have a room with a separate bedroom, living room and kitchen area. Very impressed that there were a good-size fridge, dishes, utensils, etc. Only thing missing were paper towels and napkins! Hotel is being renovated so I'm sure the hallways on the upper floors will look a lot better. We chose this hotel as it's walking distance to the Ala Moana Center, Wal-Mart and many other shops.
“Convenient for stay outside Waikiki”
Hotel convenient to Ala Moana shopping Center which includes many eating establishments as well as stores. Had problem with TV ( was originally unplugged; when I tried to turn off at end of evening, realized it had been unplugged because it wouldn't turn off! It kept coming back on until I unplugged it). Kitchen, small refrigerator and nice microwave helpful, especially if guest staying for multiple days. Terrace building supposedly being renovated, which will be nice.
“Not impressed at all”
I have chosen this hotel because I wanted to be in this neighbourhood (personal reasons). I would not recommend anyone to stay there unless one has specific reasons. I could live with the fact that this hotel saw its best times decades ago and looks like has never been restored. However, the fact that the bathroom tile had black dots of mold growing around the bath tub and the door of the bathroom were smeared with who knows what, went way below my basic expectations. I understand that the hotel is old, but I cannot understand why couldn't it be kept clean.
“Very run down”
Hotel is in desperate need of a renovation which I believe they say they are in the midst of.
“Good enough”
For someone who won't be spending much time in the hotel room, this hotel may be good enough. It has a pretty good location - walking distance from Ala Moana Shopping Center, Ross, dining, Sam's Club and Walmart. You may be able to get away with free overnight parking on the street, otherwise you'll have to pay $10/night to park in the Ross parking structure across the street (no valet). The room I stayed in had 2 sinks, 2 beds, a fridge and a microwave at request. I only stayed there for one night so it was manageable.
“Outdated, but comfortable hotel.”
Pagoda is in the middle of renovation, so don't be shock with the unfinished construction. Hotel is in extremely outdated condition. However, the staff was helpful and location is within walking distance from shopping center.
“My experience... The good, the bad, the ugly...”
I stayed at the Pagoda 10/2-10/9. FYI: Good: Good location. Temp residence for workers. Can get noisy at night. Lots of firetrucks on Keeamoku st...not sure why. The maid is supposed to change sheets every 3rd night...ours wasn't until the 4th. The front desk gentlemen was helpful with the few questions that I asked. near to a Walmart/Sam's Club; McDonald's; KFC; Walgreen's. And Ala Moana is superclose- less than a 10 minute walk. food court is amazing!!! You can try Poke; Locomoco; You get what you pay for. Not so good: Friday morning after forcing myself to stay in-bed (because of the 5hour time difference), I decided to read. I thought I noticed something brown moving on my pillow out of the corner of my eye...I lifted my pillow and the insect scurried away. I was very frazzled. I HATE BUGS!!! I can't say with clarity if it was a spider or a roach, I really dont care. But I went down to the front desk and asked if they would have someone spray around our beds. I was assured yes.Ltr I called to verify this. Housekeeping told me yes they sprayed on Monday.I told them I had seen the bug that morning. A housekeeper came and sprayed immediately. Also,on Saturday,we had a new housekeeper. She didn't take her tip - so I called to see if she could come and get it. Unfortunately, only after I went through all that effort to do the right thing...did I realize that she didnt clean the tub or even fix the bed properly.A/C units make room stink.
“Thank you Pagoda!”
Great Hotel everything is around it. Expedia and Pagoda made this trip a fun:)
“Good hotel and the location is great.”
The hotel is well located. It's very close to a lot of shopping. When you're in Hawaii you don't spend too much time in your hotel room. The room is only a place to sleep and shower. This hotel is good for that. Very comfortable and clean.
“Ummmm it was okay..”
The hotel service was great. The room was kind of skeptical, i was in no way comfortable. The pool is a little small, but the location of the hotel is perfect. Ala moana is right down the street, Wal-mart & sam's are across the street with plenty of other food places surrounding it. The prices in the convinience store however were rediculous. They wanted to charge me $10 to use my debit card because i wanted to buy a water that was less then $10! Overall, its not a bad hotel for those that are just passing threw & not planning to be there too much.
