Staycation

Posted Nov 24, 2014
Short but very nice, I would come back again , it's a nice location but it would have been better if I was staying at the higher floor , the view of the diamond head would have been great instead of seeing the roof in the way, but not bad for a last minute reservation .

Very disappointing!

Pros: The location.
Cons: Resolve the issues I commented about.
Location: Numerous shops and restaurants in walking distance. Many sites to see, places to go and things to do as the hotel is less than a block from the beach
Decided to spend a night here while attending Veteran's Day service on a recently deceased family member. We have stayed here several times in the past due to their quality and service they offer their guest. Never again! First they assigned us to a room with two Queen beds instead of the King size we prepaid for. Our room was near the elevators where the noise hampered us from a restful sleep. This was not a single incident as the front desk clerk said other past guest have complained. They nickeled and dimed us for $25 valet parking as they no longer allow self parking and another $5 to print out our airline boarding passes. The hotel should not carry the name of such a monarch as it disgraces the person and position it supposedly represents.

Aloha, Please accept our sincere apologies for your unpleasant experience. I met with our TEAM and addressed these short-falls. I also apologize that you did not receive your confirmation that included the details of the parking charges. Many parking facilities around Waikiki charge upwards of $30 or more per day and having a valet-only parking arrangement, assures our guest with vehicles will be accommodated. We are grateful that you took the time to share your experience and we will definitely strive to improve our guest experience, Mahalo, Ed Saunders General Manager

Manager was most helpful.

Pros: Service.
I booked this hotel for my senior mother. She arrived after 12 hours of constant flying and was exhausted. Initially, she was assigned to a room close to the pumping rooms, with loud sounds and no views. She went to reception, and asked in her limited English to change her room to a better room. The manager approached her, and very patiently offered an upgrade. Mom was very grateful to be changed to a lower level, and a better room. That make her experience more pleasant and got a great impression of the Hawaiian hospitality.

Did not receive the room we clearly were charged for. And there was no reimbursement to compensate us for the poor quality room we stayed in.

Great place to stay

Posted Oct 23, 2014
Pros: The views and closeness of the beach and sites.
Location: The zoo, beach, diamond head and shops are all a short walk.
From the time I checked in, till the time I checked, I had a great stay. Hotel is accesible to all bus routes, a short walk to the bech and stores. Waking up to watch the sun rise over the mountain of Diamond Head was a treat. I would recommend this hotel!

We had a great time here. The staff were lovely, very polite and friendly and would do anything to help you. The hotel pool and bar was a great place to have an drink after a hot day at the beach. Our room was very spacious and had great views of the sea and the city. The hotel itself is in a great place, not too far from shops, bars, the beach or nice places to eat

Great location

The Queen Kapiolani is an older hotel and could use a little renovation - the rooms are not what you would expect on Kalakua Ave, but it's also not as expensive as the larger hotels. The room was clean and very nice, great location, and the staff was very friendly - one block from the beach. Pool was nice with a great view of Diamondhead. Who spends that much time in the room anyway? Clean shower, comfy bed, good rates!
