Surprisingly good valuePosted Apr 21, 2014
Pros: Free wi-fi
Cons: I think better lighting in the walkways to the rooms would improve the mood.
Location: It is off the path from the main drag of Waikiki beach. The Alamoana mall has a great food court and lots of high-end and mainstream shopping.
The hotel is small, but comfortable. The rooms are near a busy street and noisier than I would have liked. It seemed recently refurbished and included a mini-fridge and a Keurig coffee machine. Not much of a view, but that is what outside is for. The beach was a quick walk and the mall was also close. The staff was very warm.

Great PlacePosted Apr 3, 2014
Cons: more coffee in the rooms but that was a personal need.
Location: Beach was close as well as Ala Moana shopping centre. Walking distance to Waikiki beach and shopping, great restaurants and bus service to anywhere.
The staff were pleasant and helpful. This is not a five star hotel but it had everything we needed especially when we were out most of the time. It was clean, quiet and easy access to all things. there was a fridge and a coffee maker in the room and we had a balcony. The bed was comfortable and there was lots of hot water. The air conditioning worked as needed and the WiFi was free. I would stay again in a minute.

Very happy with this hotelPosted Mar 26, 2014
We stayed 2 nights. Staff are lovely, room was very clean and comfortable. Easy walking distance to Ala Moana shopping centre. Marina across the road with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Convenience store, rental cars & mcdonalds within a minutes walk. Our room faced the main road but we slept well. Would def stay here again

Good LocationPosted Mar 25, 2014
Pros: The desk & lobby staff.
Location: Near Waikiki Beach, stores & amenities.
The hotel staff were very engaging, polite, accommodating. Only disappointment we felt was in the housekeeping. Our complimentary coffee & tea were not refilled in the mornings, Cups not washed. But worse of all was the bedding was NOT changed the entire duration of our stay. Expected sheets changed by the third day but when that was not done we left notes for housekeeping & still it was not not. Beds were made up with the same used sheets. Even at home my beds sheets are washed at least once a week. While on vacation I expect my bed sheets washed especially since I am paying a premium price for staying there!!

Nice hotel comfortablePosted Mar 15, 2014
Pros: centrally located, reasonable price, great staff.
Cons: add microwave ovens please
Location: Ala Moana shopping Center and Beach Park are a must do, 5 - 10 minutes walk.
I'm very pleased with this hotel. Very close to Ala Moana shopping center and beach park and all the beaches near Waikiki. Good central point for buses and shopping. Beautiful, laid back area compared to the Waikiki beach area yet close enough to enjoy everything. The boat pier is nice, we had a partial view of ocean between the buildings. This area is safe and clean, good for families or older folks. Our room was on the top floor, was very clean & had king size bed. The rooms are modern & renovated. They have a small fridge and a coffee maker but no microwave. I would suggest the hotel add microwaves. There's a safe to keep your valuables but you have to ask for the key. There's complimentary Mai Tai drinks on Thur & Fri. Free ice cold water in the lobby, but no breakfast or restaurants in the hotel bldg itself. That's no problem as there are plenty of eateries within one block. There's an Outback restaurant and Red Lobster & MacDonalds across the street . My favorite place to get food is the ABC store in the same block. You can get anything here including alcohol & souvenirs. The Hotel staff are very nice & friendly and accommodating to your requests. You should consider this hotel if you are budget conscious. I'd recommend this to a friend.

location to wakiki is close to everythingPosted Mar 14, 2014
the hotel staff did not take the rubbish away and I took it to the away mid stay and left the rest for them at book out. I also had to chase additional coffee and sugar daily as it was not replenished with the room service also as there is only one lift it is held up often through the day by cleaning services and as there is no solution to this that will always be a problem

Nice Facility, Unhelpful StaffPosted Mar 6, 2014
Pros: Nearness to shopping and the beach. Nice clean room
Location: Ala Moana park was within walking distance. Ala Moana shopping center very close as was other shopping. The beach was close by also.
I was given a very pleasant room, clean and neat. Unfortunately I was confirmed with a City King and got a room with a queen sized bed and no explanation for the change even when I inquired about it. Upon check-in I asked to have a day rate on my last day as my flight did not leave until 10:30 pm. After looking at the computer, the desk clerk said to check back on Monday (which was my last day). I thought that a little odd. I checked back two days later. They again said, wait until the last day. I inquired again on Sunday. They said just it would be $50.00 for a day rate and to check tomorrow. Then on Monday morning my last day, I called at 10:30 am to check again. They said just come down to the desk and take care of it. So I went to front desk and was told,Sorry your room is reserved. So why not tell me that the first time I inquired so I could have made other plans. Why on Sunday when I inquired did they told me how much it would be to stay late if my room was not available. I was never told about the safe in the room or given a key for it. The hotel was conveniently located and a nice hotel but staff was not helpful.

Great location between Ala Moana and WaikikiPosted Feb 16, 2014
Good value. Rooms okay, but missing desk and well-placed electrical plugs. Toilet very loud, like a jet engine. Best feature is location. Would definitely stay there again.

Equus is a nice hotel for the pricePosted Feb 16, 2014
Pros: The bed was comfortable and staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: Parking. Obtaining a pass was a bit of a challenge. It would have been nice to know in advance that parking was limited.
Location: Ala Moana Mall, the beach, Waikiki Beach, and many restaurants nearby. ABC stores and other boutique shops in the immediate area as well.
The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. The hotel entrance can be a bit challenging and parking can be an issue if you don't acquire a parking pass. I had to park across the street the first night (in a parking garage for $20). The price of parking is the same as if you have to park across the street but its definitely more convenient if you get a spot at the hotel. The hotel is within walking distance of the beach, restaurants, and shopping mall. Overall its a nice place for the money.
