Great HotelPosted Dec 4, 2013
Pros: awesome beach friendly staff quiet rooms great view dolphins good food
Cons: wifi in room was weak
Location: there are shuttles but I would recommend a car not so much stuff close by
We had a wonderful time at this hotel. I had booked an ocean view room , for an extra 50 dollar, which was real worth the money on the two days we had not that great weather. The hotel stuff was polite and attentive to my needs. For example when I had lost my keys or the parking lot was full and I had to do valet. They also gave me much better tips where to go for dinner in Waikiki beach than the travel guide (Fodor's) I had purchased. The beach is beautiful and well kept. Again the staff strikes the right balance, if you want you can order drinks but nobody will ever bother you if you are not interested. I found deeply impressive the dolphin they had in the hotel- see attached photo. The room was quiet!! The interior of the rooms and the whole hotel looks a little old, but it much have been built in these days when people used quality materials, as a consequence the room was really quiet which I really liked. Free coffee in the morning was a another feature I liked. I prefer to have coffee before breakfast and it was great to see that the hotel catered to me needs.

We had a wonderful time at the KahalaPosted Dec 4, 2013
Pros: We loved the Location and Privacy. The Beach was very nice and the restaurants were great. The rooms were so beautiful and comfortable.
Cons: I'm sorry I can not think of anything to improve. This Hotel was just wonderful.
Location: The Location is alone from other hotels and is surrounded by homes appartments or condos and a golf coarse. There is a mall 10 to 15 minutes away.
We really loved the room that the Hotel upgraded us to a room over looking the Dolphin Lagoon which was amazine.

Great hotel on a secluded beach in OahuPosted Dec 4, 2013
Cons: Lunch menus at the 2 restaurants - very limited selection and quite pricey. It would be a snap to improve the selections. Bed was too soft.
Overall, the Kahala is an awesome hotel. First class accommodations. That is not to say there is not room for improvement. Staff was professional and courteous. The room was spacious, comfortable and super clean. Housekeeping had the room cleaned by 9 a.m. everyday. The hotel grounds were immaculate and the hotel overall was very quiet and relaxing. The dolphin lagoon was amazing. The beach was beautiful, well-appointed and extremely close to the hotel. The pool was small and nothing to write home about. We included the breakfast package which was awesome. The few criticisms are minor: we requested an "upper floor." we got the 4th floor in a 10 floor hotel. Our bed was super soft, in fact too soft and needed to be replaced. The lunch menus at the two restaurants need to be updated, upscaled and expanded. Finally, the hotel is not cheap but my wife and I believed we received good value for the money we paid. The ocean at the beach is extremely tranquil, i.e., no waves; I like to play in the waves. Which is why it is such a good family resort. We do not have children and there wasn't a large number of children at the resort while we were there, I could imagine kids taking over the rather small beach. Again, overall we very much enjoyed our stay at the Kahala and would definitely stay there again.

Quiet and nice, but some small defects in rooms.Posted Dec 2, 2013
Overall, I will recommend Kahala to anyone who want to visit honolulu. Hotel is a bit far away from airport and downtown, but we used the speedi-shuttle at the airport so not much inconvenience. We booked the ocean view room, and what we get is the real nice view and quiet place to enjoy our days. No one will bother you or what so ever. Staff are super friendly, front desk is informative (I reserved my Polynesian Culture Center tour there, my other great move :D), and hotel restaurant is right at the beach. Reading WSJ, eating, looking at the ocean and feeling those sea gales walking around you (literally!) could be the most pleasing thing one could ever imagine. Only one thing I don't quite like Kahala resort is that the our restroom does not have air fan and it is real tiny. I don't know it is only my room or it is common, but hey, you are spending your time outside, so who cares? Anyway, Kahala could be one of those best choices, and we really enjoy our holidays here!

Beautiful hotelPosted Nov 18, 2013
Pros: The exclusiveness and service make this a very private and intimate hotel setting. The nightly music in the lobby area was a nice nightcap.
Cons: The pool/pool-bar and surrounding area is far inferior to most high-level resorts in Hawaii.
Location: The location is remote and very quiet. Perfect for couples who are seeking peace and quiet.
Very upscale, exclusive hotel with excellent service. The rooms and bathrooms are very large and extremely comfortable.

Dolphin LagoonPosted Nov 18, 2013
We had a wonderful time at there. The Kahala was a wonderful resort- staff was wonderful and the dolphins were magical. Our room was overlooking the lagoon and had ocean views. The only improvement I would suggest is that the beds should be more firm. Our bed was a little lumpy.

Worth every penny.Posted Nov 9, 2013
Pros: Everything. See above.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
Location: Hanuman bay is very close. Get there early as you can. The water is clearer and not nearly as many people. Diamond Head. Great hike!
I could never stay anywhere else in Oahu. This is seriously the best hotel I have ever stayed at. From check-in the staff treated us like we were so special. We were upgraded to an ocean view room for our 25th anniversary. The room was amazing! Very clean, spacious, comfortable and we loved the decor. They really think of everything with so many special touches to make you feel welcome. The resort itself had a casual eligance. Absolutely loved the dolphins! The beach was beautiful and clean. The pool staff really takes good care of you. They provide lounge chairs free too the guests and will place them where you want and even give you covers for them. The pool is nice for those who like hanging at the pool. Not three/four rows deep of people all around the pool like we saw in Waikiki. That being said... I could NEVER stay in Waikiki! That place is crazy busy! Although it is close enough to visit when you want for more attractions, dining options and shopping. The valet is very helpful getting you where you want to go. The breakfast buffet is a must! Loved it! Great selections. On our last day I expressed to our server how much I loved the sticky buns and she was so sweet and brought me some in a container to take home. I could go on and on. We have been forever spoiled and will always be comparing all other hotels to the Kahala.
