I never wanted to leave...

Posted Aug 21, 2014
Pros: The exceptional staff, total privacy, great food at the restaurants on site in a beautiful surroundings.
Cons: Make the day longer so I can enjoy the Kahala more? Seriously I could find nothing wrong.
Location: Dolphin Experience, swimming, paddle boarding, snorkeling, eating, Pearl Harbor, Waikiki and the hardest thing of all to do...nothing oh sweet nothing
The Kahala Hotel and Resort was the most wonderful and beautiful place we have ever stayed. The staff from beginning to end were flawless, never once did we have a bad experience, anything we needed they provided and with a smile. Rooms cleaned everyday, fresh towels, turn down service with chocolates. The dolphin lagoon was right there on the grounds and our 10 year old daughter was thrilled and amazed by the experience, she was able to swim and feed the dolphins. Every morning when we walked to the pool and beach we would stop and say good morning to the dolphins she loved it. We will returning to the Kahala any chance we can, heck it was so wonderful there I forgot I was in Hawaii'i! After a day trip to Waikiki, all we could think about was getting back to the hotel and sitting on the beach or poolside. Why go downtown where there are thousands of people crawling over each other on the beach when at the Kahala you have your own beach with only a few people? The hardest thing I have ever tried to do on a vacation is nothing, always busy, running from tour site to another, here I was able to do absolutely nothing if I wanted. Heck found myself getting up at 4:30 am to sit on the beach and watch the tractor groom the beach then go for swim in the ocean under the sunrise. Never wanted to sleep in and miss a moment of the Kahala. Oh I miss the Kahala, cannot wait to return.

Pros: Quiet beach, cleanliness of room
Cons: More flexible hours for restaurants (especially for lunch), beach staff (for rentals) weren't helpful to fix issues w/ gears, # of free shuttles
We had two hurricanes coming while we were staying at the hotel - the hotel was really good about informing the guests what to expect, services that are available etc. We were also appreciative about how they were prepared to accommodate large number of guests flooding into breakfast and lunches at the restaurant on the days that hurricane alert was in effect.

Perfect service with private beach

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Cons: Outdoor pool
Everything was prepared for nice and quick check-in before our arrival. Even valet parking man is quick. Awesome and calm private beach is clean and shallow and perfect for families to play together. Nice Japanese restaurant and brand new 1 year old Italian restaurant are awesome.

Secluded Hotel

Loved the private beach, valet parking and cleaning staff - all excellent - hotel restaurants are WAY TOO expensive - we had a rental car so we rarely ate at the hotel - McDonalds, Zippy's, Subway, and Chili's are all within a couple of miles - only other negative was the pool - REALLY need to upgrade - seemed shabby compared to everything else - hotel grounds were beautiful and well maintained - loved watching the dolphins, turtles, stingrays, and tropical fish in the hotel lagoon - would definitely recommend to others

Nice hotel

Posted Aug 6, 2014
The photos don't do justice to this hotel. When we arrived right around the check in time, the welcome staff presented each of us with Hawaiian necklaces for everyone. Every part of the hotel we used seemed meticulously maintained and staffed. Nice luxurious hotel in a private location away from the main Waikiki area actions yet their shuttle buses gave convenient access to nearby popular shopping malls. Small but warm pools for swimming in cool breezy afternoons. Dolphins lagoon right on site. Very special experience where participants can really "play" with the dolphins. Nice views from both the ocean side or mountain side (had an awesome view of the golf course). Partial ocean view room was probably not worth the upgrade as the ocean view was very limited.

Kahala Resort

Posted Aug 3, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness, facilities, location
Cons: breakfast counter staff attitudes and organisational skills
Location: Kahala is the "Beverley Hills" of Honolulu. It is a short distance to Waikiki and Diamond Head. Shuttle buses are available at the hotel.
The facilities, cleanliness and comfort is excellent! We loved everything about this hotel. The only disappointment we had was the long waiting times at breakfast. The hotel restaurant catered for residents of Kahala as well as hotel patrons and unfortunately it meant long waiting times to be seated for breakfast. The staff at Kahala were pleasant and professional with exception of the counter staff at the breakfast desk. We brought this to the attention of the hotel manager. Other than this the hotel is 5 star in every way and I would recommend it to anyone. In fact I will go back!

Nice hotel if you want to get away from the busy, crowded Waikiki strip area. Nice friendly staff, private beach, and 3-4 fine restaurants to dine at.

Just gorgeous!

The hotel made this our best vacation ever. We knew about the dolphins but were utterly surprised when we saw sea turtles and sting rays. The kids enjoyed the swimming at the beach and hopping right in the heated pool after. The scenery was just picture perfect and the rooms are super clean. Very upscale for a hotel in Oahu. I would definitely recommend getting the breakfast package if available. $28 per a day for 2 adults which retail for $35 for each adult. It was quite a deal for seaside breakfast sitting right next to exotic birds. Kids under 4 eat free but over 4 cost $17.99 each so be careful if you have older kids.
